    Sherwood Island State Park

    Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, CT welcomes leashed dogs in the off-season from October 1st to April 14th. This public recreation area can be found on the shore of Long Island Sound and offers swimming, fishing and dog-friendly trails. Pets are not allowed in the park during the summer season from April 15th through September 30th. Visit Website

      Wish it was all year!

      My friend and I brought our puppies to the beach today before they stop allowing dogs on the beach. Our pups had a great time, and we were happy to introduce them to a new environment. Everyone on the beach was very friendly, things were clean. East Beach, where dogs can go, had bathrooms closed in the off season (when dogs can go) so plan accordingly. I really wish we could bring our dogs all year so that we could go on a nice warmer day. Still happy they could go to the beach at all.

      Amazing!!

      We felt privileged to be able to walk with our Dottie here and she was in heaven!! Wide open spaces, beaches and walking paths through the trees!! What more could a good doggie want??

      Love dog walks here!

      I take my dog to this beach/park weekly during off season months (when dogs are allowed). There are always other dog walkers and theres numerous paths to walk your dog and allow them to explore!

      Beautiful: Dogs Allowed Off-Leash from 10/1-4/1

      One of my favorite places to take my dogs, particularly on weekdays when it's super-quiet. Lots of room to walk and roam, and far from cars/roads. Highly recommend.
