Etowah Indian Mounds State Park

Dogs are allowed to join their owners at the outdoor areas of Etowah Indian Mounds State Park. Previously the home to several thousand Native Americans from 1000 A.D. to 1550 A.D., this park came to life to protect 54-acres that includes six earthen mounds, a plaza, village site, borrow pits, and a defensive ditch. The earthen mounds, which have the appearance of being artificial hills from the Teletubbies, are an interesting historical phenomenon that were constructed by Native American tribes for numerous reasons, including for burial or ritual purposes. The fee for entry into the park is $6 for adults. Etowah Indian Mounds State Park is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Visit Website

    Caution

Use caution when walking through the park. There was posion put out on ant hills i was not warned about and my puppy got ahold a a little before i could pull him away. Dont worry he is ok but could have been a bad outcome.
