Nice For A Change Of Pace

Interesting blend of nature, and being under the airport. Not a lot of dogs, some times I don’t run into any. Off leash allowed. Currently under construction but still useable.

    Worth the drive!

We and our Aussie-Golden live only 5 min's away from Pt. Isabel. But we won't go to Pt. Is on weekends any more - too crowded & crazy. I found this park here on B'Fido, and it was SO worth about 1/2 hr drive each way on a Sunday! Our dog has a good recall, and is mellow with other dogs. She also loves exploring, and this was a peak experience for her. We enjoyed the varied terrain, and even the sound & sight of occasional jets landing at the airport. Two caveats: watch for "no off-leash dogs beyond this point" signs - (there's plenty of ways to go that are unimproved & allowed), and be aware that there seem to be hares living there. At least, we saw one, which saw us & ran. (At midday! Luckily, before our dog did! Not sure if her recall is THAT good.) So if yours has strong prey drive and poor recall, maybe not the park for you. Of course, always best to bring water, bowl and poop bags to every dog park.

Easy walk. Nice open areas for any pup who likes to play fetch!

    Great park

Love this find, we’ve been taking our husky here for a few months now, and he loves how open it is for him to run around. Just a warning though dogs must be on leash by the picnic tables. We got a citation while eating lunch this past weekend here, even though no one was within eyesight and he was not more than 15ft away from me at any point. The officer wrote me up rather than just issuing a warning. I’ll still go to this park because it is a great off leash park, and this officer was just a stickler!!! GREAT PARK THOUGH!!!

    Off leash heaven

It's like the Lost World. Way more off leash than Point Isabel, way more interesting. Our pups thought they were in the veldt in Africa running through the fields of grass.

    Off-leash at its best

Off-leash open fields with trails leading to the water front. Plenty of parking, picnic areas, port-o-potty, shrubs
