Monroe Lake
Dog-friendly Bloomington, IN recreation area Monroe Lake is the largest lake located entirely within Indiana. The reservoir is man-made and was first filled in 1965. People come from all around to enjoy the water on their boats and indulge in a variety of recreational activities such as water skiing. Fido will be pleased to discover this lake is surrounded by thousands of acres of forests and a number of hiking trails, including the BlueBird Trail, Tree Trek Trail, Turkey Trot Trail, and the Whitetail Trail.

I gave it 4 bones instead of 5 just because there’s no special accommodations for dogs to rate on, but it’s a lake and woods and a campground — none needed, right?It’s the outdoors at its best on a summer day with so many dogs and boaters sharing the fun in and on the water.
