    Agressive dogs

even though I’ve been there three times the last two times they have had aggressive dogs there, one pounced on my shih tzu thinking it was just a bad day. So I went back with my 5 month old puppy and another dog fight and another dog trying to submit my puppy. It is not a good place for a dog park, and the small dog area is not big like the bigger dog part. it’s just a tiny area with grass.

Big Park With Nothing To Climb On

It’s a large park with plenty of bowls for water and poop bags. Unfortunately there’s nothing for the dogs to climb on.

    Lots of dogs!

My pup is extremely social, so this was the perfect place to have her meet new dogs and run around a little. That being said, it is definitely a little sad--all dirt and chain link fence, no grass. She didn't really care, and the fellow owners we met were wonderful.

    Not small dog friendly

If you have small dogs don't bring them here. There is a small dog area but it's the size of a living room, whereas the big dogs practically get an acre. My dogs don't do well with big dogs and there's no separate entrance to the small dog area so we have to walk through the big dog area. I tried to walk them through one day and all the big dogs went after one of my dogs because she was scared. She screeched bloody murder and I had to pull them off of her and we ended up leaving. Owners did nothing. Good for big dogs, but don't bother if you have small dogs that need to run.

    Drainage of water

My dog was having a great time-lots of dogs to play with-a couple of then were kinda of aggressive-then they found the water hole of MUD- had a great time running into the mud hole- was wondering if they were going to figure out how to drain the park so that mud hole doesn't sit there My dog got 2 baths and was sick from being in that drainage area of the park UGH will not go back unless that area is fixed

    Barktastic!

I just rescued my dog a little over a week ago. He's very timid and shy but he LOVES other animals. Lakewood dog park was the first one I looked into when I searched online. I have taken my pup 2 times this past weekend and he LOVES it! There were a lot of friendly pooches and owners to socialize with. It was a great time and we look forward to visiting again! ????

    Scary

Every time I've been there, for whatever reason, there have been aggressive dogs there. Their owners rarely did anything to curb the behaviors and I always ended up having to leave. I have a large lab mix who isn't submissive and also not aggressive but he still was getting run over and thrown to the ground... not in playing style. Also it freaked me out because another dog latched onto a puppy's neck and wouldn't let go so I had to stick my hand in its mouth to get it off the puppy... there was blood everywhere. Just hate it there!

    LOVE!!

I love coming to the Lakewood Dog Park! It is surrounded by trees (well on 1 side) and if I decide I want to go for a walk with my dog we can exit right out to the multipurpose trail.

It's important to note that there will be dogs that bully other ones but you have to know the difference between a dog playing and a dog being aggressive. If you don't want any other dogs to touch your dog I'd suggest you just go for a walk because dogs are going to want to chase each other and wrestle.

As far as the cleanliness of the dog park, you will have those times when an owner flat out won't pick up their dogs poop, and those times when you simply miss your dog pooping, it happens. If I'm going to pick up my dogs poop and there is more poop along the way I clean it up. I have also seen board members come up and walk around and clean up dog poop so it's really not bad.

There are always a lot of toys for dogs to play with at the park so there is no need to bring your own toys which is nice!

You need to come check it out! People are friendly and dogs are awesome. Really I take my dog to the park so I can socialize and play with other dogs :o)

    LOVE!

I was so excited when I drove up to the park and saw so many dogs! I have been to other parks that are empty most of the time. The double entry gate is great and love all of the water bowls and toys that are provided for the dogs. Of course some times dogs act up, but any of the regulars were quick to say something and offer advice to people that weren't as familiar with how to intervene. I was only home for spring break, but went almost every day!

    LOVE the Lakewood Dog Park

This is the best dog park I've ever been to and I've been to a lot! Sure there is the occasional clash, but dogs are just like people in that they don't always get along. My two dogs and I go almost every day for at least two hours or more and we love it! Keep up all the good work

A great place for dogs & humans to socialize

The Lakewood Dog Park is a great place for dogs and their owners to socialize and make friends. No matter what time of day my dog and I visit the park there's always dogs for her to play with and friendly people. There are many "park regulars" that come about the same time every day. The City of Lakewood owns the Park, but a non-profit group takes of of day to day maintenance. The Friends of the Lakewood Dog Park supply "pick up bags" tools, toys, the website, the Facebook page and send out emails to members. There have been a lot of changes this year. The park attracts people from all over metropolitan Cleveland and 100's of dogs visit the park every week. It's a great place.

    Will never return

I figured I would give Lakewood Dog Park a visit, since it shouldn't be muddy after all the rain we had. Wish I had never set foot in there, talk about irresponsible pet owners and dogs that love to bully. Not a safe place, for anyone..and I'd hate to see little children get in the middle of a fight.

    Will never go back

My dog cocker spanial got bit by a large mixed breed dog here. The owner did nothing prior to this happening when I asked them to pay attention to their dog as it was bullying my dog. Before I knew it the incident happened. I wish I had gotten their name so they could have paid for my vet bill. Apparently these types of incidents happen often and is a common complaint. Wish I had known that prior as I would never have gone.

Great Experieces at a Great Park

I have frequented the Lakewood Dog Park for years, and typically visit about five times per week. I have attended in the mornings, afternoons and evenings, and my dogs always have a great time. Since the opening of the park, each year has gotten better and better. Beautification projects are currently in place, fundraisers are being held and the park looks better than ever. Thank you to the volunteers for their hardwork and efforts. As a westside community, let's all continue to make Lakewood Dog Park a pleasant place to visit for all.
