Greenbrier State Park

Greenbrier State Park is a dog-friendly destination in the Appalachian Mountains. The main attractions of this picturesque park are the 42-acre man-made freshwater lake and the white sandy beach. There are eleven miles of hiking trails that weave around the surrounding woodland, considered to be moderate to strenuous, so you and your pooch should expect some fairly steep hills and rocky terrain. You'll also discover a portion of the Appalachian Trail on and around Bartman's Hill. Pets are allowed in the Cedar and Dogwood camp loops, on trails outside the day-use area, and in the day-use areas and lake. If you're planning on bringing your pooch with you to the park, make sure they're on a leash under six feet and all mess is cleaned up after them. Greenbrier State Park is open every day of the week from 8am until sunset. Visit Website

    Horrible Experience

The staff are beyond creepy and made my husband and I incredibly uncomfortable. If you want to have a nice afternoon or evening, do not come here. The rangers and staff are incredibly rude and condescending. Very sad. :(

    Great Park But

The information is incorrect about dogs being allowed in day use and in the lake. They are admitted before Memorial Day weekend and after Labor Day weekend. They are allowed in Cedar and Dogwood camp loops and hiking trails all year.
