The Appalachian Trail
The Appalachian National Scenic Trail, also known as the AT, is the most famous hiking trail in the United States and sections of it are pet-friendly. Although the address we've listed is in Virginia, you can gain access to the trail from numerous spots along the way. The trail leads from Springer Mountain in Georgia all the way up to Mount Katahdin in Maine, totaling 2,181 miles in length. Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted along the following sections of the AT: Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee and North Carolina, Bear Mountain State Park, and Baxter State Park. If you don't fancy an extended hike, then you can jump on a section of the trail for a day hike. For those planning on staying for a while, it's important to plan your trip appropriately and pack provisions for you and your pooch. Visit Website
