The Lighthouse Trail

The Lighthouse Trail at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Canyon, TX, is pet friendly. This trail is nearly six miles there and back. You can bring your pooch on the trail with you to explore this trail that leads to a rocky outcrop known as the Lighthouse. Great Long Hike
The full trail is about 5.8 miles. This is not including the hike up to the top of the light house. The top of the trail gets pretty steep so it's probably not best for smaller or older dogs. If you don't hike to the top the trail is pretty easy on level ground. Their are a few spots to stop and rest but make sure you take ALOT of water for you and the pup if you go when its warm. The guides recommend one gallon each and we drank every drop.

Palo Duro Lighthouse Trail
Beautiful & our Boston Terrior Gunner and our Visla Rose loved it. Take lots of water & treats for yourself and dogs. Weather was 60s but still needed sunscreen !!!!

Great Day Hike
We took our 2 German Shepherds and Pomeranian with us on our day hike and they loved it! The hike was nice and easy enough to accomplish with the dogs and everyone we passed loved to stop and say hi to the dogs along the trail. Took about 4 hours so bring lots of water and treats for yourself and you dogs.
