Van Sickle Bi-State Park

Van Sickle Bi-State Park is dog-friendly. There are lots of easy to moderate trails for dogs and their owners to enjoy. Many of them lead to lovely views of the largest alpine lake in North America and the surrounding peaks. The hours of this park vary depending on what time of year you visit. Call ahead to confirm that they will be open when you visit. The area is open to pedestrians year-round, sunrise to sunset; and to vehicles from May 1 to October 31, sunrise to sunset. Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on a leash under six feet and all mess should be cleaned up after them. Visit Website

Or call (775) 831-0494 or email ltnsp@parks.nv.gov for more information.

Take The Barn Trail Loop Instead Of Paved Road

This is a busy area right under the gondolas for Heavenly Ski Resort but if you take the trails to the right, near the bathrooms, instead of the paved road that veers to the left there are less people/dogs and it’s more like a real hike. Lila loved it and there were lots of patches of snow all around so you might want to have crampons for your shoes/boots if you’re nervous walking in snow/ice.
