I brought dog shoes as I read from another reviewer her dog’s feet were torn up and I can see how it may depend. Thankfully my dogs paws ended up okay, but I’m glad I brought shoes in case. This is a really short visit, we were only there for photos really, but so cool to see in person. I recommend heading to the other beach on Jekyll island and walking your dog there instead. This place is pet friendly and I’m glad, and super recommend seeing, but it’s more of a viewing spot than a my dog can really exercise and enjoy spot. We were careful walking around.

Great short jaunt off 95, great to walk dogs and snap photos!

This beach was our favorite part of our visit to the island. Very beautiful especially at sunset. My dog loved walking here.
- DebraApr 10, 2024Dangerous
Not only is there grey clay mixed with sand, there are oyster beds on rocks that get hidden by tide. My dog got his paws and legs shredded. The closest vet is 30 minutes and not available. This is too dangerous even on leash.

Great beach for walking and views! Surreal landscapes. Very fun and interesting. Our pup enjoyed it as much as we did!

Dogs must stay leashed on this beach, but we had a wonderful time. It is gorgeous! We did see an alligator in a creek on the way in, so just be aware.
- MadisonFeb 26, 2023Great spot!
great area! Great people! My huskies loved playing in the water here. There was plenty of space for them to run without bumping into crowds!!

This was the first time taking the pups to the beach, one loved it and the other could have cared less. Beach was clean and beautiful, everyone was respectful of one another. We found several shells.
- SusaSep 5, 2022Well worth the 20 min drive from I 95
Beautiful driftwood. Great place for a walk! 8$ fee to enter Jekyll island ( Sep 2022)
- LeighJul 16, 2022Awesome beach!
A must see! The driftwood is great for some cool pictures and was not busy when we visited! Dogs enjoyed checking it out and not a far walk!
- CarrieMar 27, 2022Love this beach!
Love Driftwood Beach! The sand is packed down for easy walking. All of the driftwood was neat to see. Lots of little walking paths to get to it. Our dog loved it!

our pups enjoyed this part of the island the most. perhaps it was the salty breeze and all the little crabs they chased.
- LauraSep 30, 2021Adventure is out there!
Dog must be on leash, but if you ask me it’s a nice long beach that is perfect for a beach hike! Enjoy beautiful scenery while looking at shells and the ocean!
- MichelleJul 24, 2020Great picture taking spot
Beautiful driftwood will blow your mind! Not a good place to swim because slime and rocks. Overall breathtaking place and lots of shade for pups!
- SamanthaJun 28, 2020Great Location
This is a great place to get away with the dogs. Not a fan of having to keep the dogs on their leashes and there was only the one trash can at the entrance, so you'll have to carry any poop bags with you. The dogs enjoyed the warm waters and although there were a ton of people (5pm on a Saturday) it was still very open.
- AllisonMar 5, 2020Amazing Beach!
I have been to beaches all over the world and this one is on the top of my list! So very unique, beautiful, and peaceful. Leashed pups were all over and having a great time :) I can’t wait to go back!!!
- BrittanyJan 14, 2020Check your pup over after!!
Our boys loved the beach and all the smells it had to offer. Make sure to check your pup after leaving. We found ticks on all of our dogs, one had about 10 trying to dig their way into his thick fur. They're all on preventative, but still never fun to have bugs crawling on them.
- CherieSep 27, 2019Beautiful beach
This is a great beach for exploring with your dog. Our pug loved it!
- KarenJul 27, 2019Neat Spot
We enjoyed our visit to this beach with our Jack Russell! Dogs are welcome and must be on leash at all times, which is fine with us. There are no doggie or water stations so plan accordingly. Trash cans are located at the entrance to the beach only.
