We were looking for dog friendly activities and decided to check out this national monument, so glad we did. Lots of dogs to say hello to. Definitely bring water and a bowl, even in February it can get really warm. Very interesting place.

We had fun taking our 115 lb Great Pyrenees along the path below Montezuma's Castle in the fall of 2021. It was shady and well-guided and beautiful. I can see why people built their pueblo in this valley, which has a lovely stream and pond as well as trees and wildlife to hunt. There are plenty of benches and exhibits along the trail if you want to rest or just soak up the mystical atmosphere. I don't know if we would have stopped in July or August, though. Arizona can get quite hot then. We were able to get Gracie appointed a Federal Bark Ranger (meaning we could recite the rules for dogs in the park and were willing to purchase a small, reasonably priced metal badge for her collar). Well worth the stop.

This place is a must see if you’re in the area and have your furry friend in tow.
- ChristaSep 9, 2022Awesome for the whole family
VERY dog friendly, interesting place. Your dog can even become a “bark ranger”. We have been all over Northern Arizona and this has been the most dog friendly park we have visited. They even let our dog in the visitor center.
- LindaOct 11, 2020Nice place and dog Friendly
my husband i were looking for something to do in the area and were hoping to bring our two dogs. i saw the one review of Montezuma Castle and decided to go. I completely agree with the review I read - nice wide path, easy walk, lots of shade. There is some dirt on the sides of the path before the off limit area where our dogs were able to pee and it didn’t seem bad/wrong. i think some of the younger kids there enjoyed seeing our dogs more than the “castle”.
- KristiJul 4, 2020Dog Friendly!!!
Wide paths to accommodate others and our dogs while enjoying the hike and the sights!!! Path has a lot of shade for the dogs and us to walk and enjoy some time taking pictures and reading the tour placards.
