This is not a welcoming park. The dogs are territorial that frequent the park. The owners are grouped together and do not talk or socialize with anyone but with each other. I brought my 11 month shitzu and my 9 year old son there to try it out since it is the only other dog park close besides el dorado. When we entered we were approached by a very angry dog barking relentlessly at us. Other dogs began as they are pack animals. We moved away from the entrance hoping the dog would stop since no one told it stop. What shocked and scared me is the dog turned on my child who was holding onto my leg and started lunging at him and I. I had to grab my puppy and tell the dog no numerous times. Only to hear the dogs owner yell from across the park “ keep barking until they pet you” I’m sorry but I do not think it is a good idea to reward or try and pet a dog a dog who is lunging and trying to bite us as we were corned. I had to hold my kid who is 55 pounds and my puppy to get out. It was quite traumatic and I wouldn’t go back there. It took a while before we returned even to el dorado park since we were a bit scared of that happening to us again somewhere else. I would avoid this area. El dorado park is worth paying for to not get attacked or have my pup learn bad habits. Avoid.

    best in the area

We go here every day, even though we pass other parks on our way. There is more grass than anywhere else, and the people and dogs are MUCH friendlier. Yes, it is comingled, so if your small dog is fearful or your large dog is aggressive, it's not the place for you. Also you are technically supposed to get a permit to use the park if you aren't a Seal Beach resident, but the office where they used to distribute them is closed, so they don't enforce it. It's nice, though, considering they do a lot to maintain the park.

    co mingled park

so the regulars bring their chairs and hang out all day all the time. the dogs start to feel territorial and bored . they stalk the gate in waiting for new dogs. my 12 lb dog got swarmed by 6 dogs even though I carried him past the 6 dogs at the front. anyways another owner hate to help me and my yelping dog. several owners had to leave it was such a scene. supposedly someone told mye they had a problem with one of the dogs which left ater the incident. one bad
Its large enough to move around but the unattentive owners dog would still follow us. we had to leave after 10 mins

    some people are crazy

I love this dog park. Yes it could be bigger buy it's the only one in the area. I don't know what these people are talking about. I've been to the park a bunch of times with my dogs and not once have I heard anything about some fee. People from all over go there and I've never had any issues with other owners or any other person there. Everyone is respectful and understanding. Yes there's poop around. Because dogs poop. There's lots of dogs, definitely would recommend it. All breeds are welcome.

    Terrible

I'd call this place anything BUT dog friendly! It's terribly overcrowded (we went at 11am on a Tuesday), full of dog poop (I stepped in some within 5 minutes) and the park is tiny for all those dogs and people. The grass is not lush but rather depressingly over-used with big brown patches everywhere. We're new to the area and were looking for places to take our dog - we will definitely not be visiting again. Give us a dog park to be proud of!

Over crowded and a shake down

This place is really nice and well kept, but way to many dogs and people use it! They have a nice lawn here that many love, but Seal Beach is not to friendly to outsiders. If you are not from Seal Beach they want you and your dog to pay a fee and wear another tag. Plus many of the people here are rude to none regulars. Their rules are so insane since this park actually belongs to the city of Los Alamitos but Seal Beach and the Air Base stole it from them. Check any official city map. If anybody asks you for user fees tell them your from Los Alamitos and you have every right to be there for free! Seal Beach is SO corrupt!
