this was a nice spot to visit on a sunday afternoon! we didn’t do the trails due to the high tick rate, but still enjoyed our time there. layed by the little beach to cool off before heading home

I have been here many times without my dog in the past. I recently got him and started bringing him there with me and he loves it. It is a great, very well kept nature trail. It is also HUGE. The beginning part of the park is smaller but once you walk across the street there is so much more to explore in the other section of Avalon. There are even other parking lots in case you wanted to go to a different one each time and explore a different section of it.
It’s a family friendly place so I’ve noticed all the dogs we’ve bumped into there are also super friendly. (Something to keep in mind if your dog isn’t so friendly- there is always a lot of small children at this nature walk.)The only thing I forgot the last 2 times I went was that they do not have garbage cans so if your dog goes to the bathroom there is nowhere to dispose of it. I didn’t have a backpack to clip it onto either time so I had to hold the poop bag for the remainder of the walk which is kinda annoying.

We were so happy to have found this preserve, it’s just wonderful! The trails are easy to follow, there are simple short ones and a longer one, a bit steep in spots, but overall just a great place with your pup! There are no garbage cans, carry in/carry out. parking was a bit tough, it’s right on the street. We did find a public lot just past the preserve, so that is very helpful. We will definitely go back!

Love this spot for hikes with and without our dog. Make your way to the sunflower field. You won’t regret it.
