Do not bring your dogs here

Do not take your pit bull or any bully breed here. This place isn’t a friendly dog Park for your pitbull. My dog was kicked today by an ignorant person that doesn’t know anything about dog breeds. My dog was playing with another dog with a stick and his dog layed down on his back, so my dog tried to take the stick away playfully, like all dogs do, and the owner kicked my 10 month old puppy. Please do not bring your dogs here !!!!!

    Good park but...

I used to love this park for my black lab! He would have so much fun running around in the big area playing with other dogs. No matter when we went there, other dogs were always there. But recently within the past couple of months, owners with aggressive dogs have been bringing their dogs here. I have seen multiple attacks from a variety of dogs. Owners keeping dogs on leashes or nervously keeping them near them. Unfortunetly my dog was in one of these attacks. A German Shepard by the name of Harley was sitting under his owner at a bench and growling and acting aggressive the entire time he was there. I did my best to keep my dog away from him, but when my dog was running with another dog by him he ran out from under the bench and attacked him, biting his side. All the owner did was sit on the bench and call the dogs name. Didn’t get up or anything. When I was leaving with my bleeding dog she only then asked if he was okay. In my worry about my dog I didn’t think to get the owners name. So, if anyone that has read this long review knows the dog and owner I am talking about please let me know. I would really like for her to see what her dog did to mine and understand that she doesn’t need to bring her dog back there again. Just beware and stay focused on your dog and others around them if you plan to bring them here.

Huge park with lots of trees

Plenty of space for the pups to run, sniff and play. Bags provided. Trash cans easily accessible. A water spigot on site to fill containers. Several areas to sit down at picnic tables. There are a wide variety of dog breeds that come to play here.

This park has several resident comedian squirrels. It is super funny to watch the squirrels taunt the dogs and zoom up the trees seconds before being caught.

The only eye sore(s) in this park are the scads of half full or tipped over kitty litter buckets people have abandoned over time. There is no need for 27 or more buckets when there is a spigot in which 2 or 3 can be refilled and emptied regularly. The only purpose they otherwise serve is for mosquito breeding grounds and piss markers. Other than that, this park is beautiful!

    Gross

So we went there on Sunday, this place was nasty!! Most of the park is dirt/mud. There are buckets of standing water for the dogs. That is disgusting. So glad I brought my own water. There were no poop bags either!!! We left after a little while because it was so bad.

Tons of large, calm dogs, even on a Thursday afternoon. I loved it and so did my pup.

    Great Park

When I come to visit my boyfriend who lives in Charlotte, we bring our dog here every day. The people are friendly and your dog is able to interact with a variety of breeds. Nice open space and the hiking trails in the park are short but great for a quick hike with your dog.

    Awsome

My dogs get so excited when I tell them we are going to Barkingham Park. They love the big open space to run and play. I dont have to worry about them hurting smaller dogs because they have their own yard. We are headed there now.
