Bug Light Park

While not a dog park, this is a highly visited area by many of the local pups. Pets love the chance to play off-leash in the designated area of this park, which includes beach access. Be careful as the area is not fenced. Visit Website

    Kites and Dogs, Oh My!

The park at Bug Light is huge. Weekends are for flying kites and there is always quite a crowd. It was the first thing we noticed when we were at the Visitor's Center in Portland. Grabbed my kite and with our 2 Bernese Mountain dogs, headed to Bug Light. We kept our dogs on leash but walked the entire area. Many people were flying kites. Returned a second time just to walk around again. Will be returning for their big Kite Festival in 2020.

    Off leash

Small, cute, dog friendly park with great views of the lighthouse and the ocean. There is a short path around a patch of greenery in the center. Dogs can be off leash as long as they are under voice control.

    Good Quick Stop

We stopped here for about 20 minutes to stretch our legs and let our pup stretch hers while driving from Boothbay to Cape Elizabeth. It was a great little stop, and a cute little lighthouse. Lots of other dogs running around.
