Kaaterskill Falls Trail Head

One of the region's most popular attractions for centuries, dog-friendly Kaaterskill Falls is a magnificent two-tier 260 foot waterfall near Haines Falls, NY. Located on Spruce Creek in the eastern Catskill Mountains, leashed dogs are welcome to traverse half-mile Kaaterskill Falls Trail which leads visitors to the scenic waterfall. Plunging over a u-shaped cliff face, Kaaterskill Falls attracts outdoor enthusiasts, photographers, and a steady stream of tourists. Plan an early morning weekday trip to avoid the crowds and be prepared for muddy or slippery conditions after heavy rainfall. Visitors can also take Laurel House Road to reach a popular viewing platform looking down onto the waterfall. Visit Website

    Be careful!

If you take the upper/shorter trail with your dog, you will be fine and get to a small observation deck at the top of the waterfall.
If you take the longer trail to the bottom of the waterfall you will eventually reach some very steep steps. We turned around! But still a nice walk.
