    Be alert

My smallish dog was attacked by a large dog at this park. While my dog was whimpering, the other dog’s owner just said that’s what dogs do. No, no they don’t. I shouldn’t have to get your dog off mine. If a dog is whimpering, something is wrong. If your dog is in the mix, you need to act quickly. My dog had a puncture wound under his chin and could have been killed. Also, most of the area is covered in wood chips or dirt so it’s not the best terrain for dogs. Ventura, when are you going to have a grass dog park with two reasonably sized areas for both smaller and larger dogs? A grass park would serve your tax payers not just dogs.

    Small area for small dogs

This park is beautiful for large dogs, but the area for small dogs is tiny! Even toy dogs won't get much exercise. This entire space is dirt. There is some grass in the larger part of the dog park. So far, we've been able to share the larger portion with the big dogs, but we only do so after some recognizance of how the large dogs are behaving. People are friendly and seem to be watching their dogs when we've visiting.

    Hard to Find!

This park is hard to find. I almost gave up! You have to wind through the park all the way to the end near the rest rooms. Then walk beyond the restrooms to the dog park at the far end of the overall park. The main fenced run is HUGE with lots of grass, wood chips, trees, and bushes. This is a place that is nice for humans AND puppies. There are benches throughout the park, and a double-gated holding pen at the opening. A smaller run is adjacent for small and older dogs. There was lots of room to run and explore. I'd give it more stars if it wasn't so hard to get find and get to.

    Not ideal

I agree with with the first reviewer that owners at this park are the problem. The dog park is not the time to "check out" and read a book, tempting as it might be. Play with your dog. Watch your dog. And correct your dog if they do something wrong like jump on a human or get aggressive with another dog. We don't go to this park anymore. Only Arroyo Verde for our pups!

    Great park!

We are visiting the Ventura/Ojai area and found this dog park for our Doberman. It's great! Large, trees and shade, two areas for large and small dogs. Our dog really enjoyed playing here!

    Dog owner

I take my dogs to this park as often as I can. It is the biggest dog park I know of in the area so there is plenty of room for the dogs to run around. Just wish it was closer to my house.

    New pet owner

Just moved to Fillmore and couldn't find things to do with our newest family member. Took the kids and enjoyed every moment. Wide space & friendly people. Very clean and family oriented. A must go for doggy lover like me.

    Disappointed

I have been to this park a few times...and have been disappointed in dog owners who spend their time socializing and do not oversee their dogs. The dogs are just being dogs, and occasionally need some human redirection.
