    Beautiful city views in a large dog run

    Finally made it out to this park and I wish I'd made it sooner! Parking was easy, beautiful views of Berkeley and SF, and a variety of things to do. Grills and picnic tables on sight, and a great space to bring your dog(s) off-leash!

    Grea treat for my little dude.

    He loves going to this park. Luckily we haven't encountered any aggressive dogs here and the views and land features are so much better than Pt Isabel or the Aquatic Park where I have seen aggressive dogs.

    Aggressive Dogs Off Leash

    Today I took my 2 small dogs to the designated Off Leash area of this park. We encountered an off-leash pit bull and its owners that saw us walking toward them. The pit bull, which was wearing a prong collar, crouched and went into "stalk" mode. Then approached us and it was OK at first. Then the dog began chasing my smaller dogs and one of the owners tried to call the dog ("Bella") and catch the dog to stop it, but was unsuccessful-- the dog was not under "voice control." I resolved the problem by continuing to walk away and call my dogs to me. The pit bull eventually followed its owners when it was ready. Even though this area is designated Off-Leash, dogs must still be under voice control!! and not threatening to other dogs or people!!!!

    let them run

    .People who have dogs that bite should keep them on leash at all times, including in the dog park. Cesar Chavez is a great place to let your dog run free. But not uptight dogs. Now it appears the city wants to crack down on dog owners at the park - re3ducing the sizew of the dog off leash area and threatening to crack ;down with citations if your dog strays out of the area. Give me a break. I take my dog to the park daily. He rund free. Never bothers anyone or anyone's dog. I usually go on a weed day. There is usually very few people there. What's going on here. Berkeley was once a tolerant city - now it's becoming a police state. Maybe they should turn their attention on bicycle raiders who are constantly breaking traffic laws - endangering not only themselves but pedestrians. Come on guys, give me a break.

    Big Park + Worth It

    This park is HUGE and it's hill-y but right on the ocean! Makes for a great sunset. There must have been twenty dogs when I visited but if you take the outer park edges it's like you're the only one in the park. There's a tiny "woodland" area that my dog loved to run through. But it's mostly grassy area that takes around an hour to slow walk. The very outer ring (sidewalk) dogs must be on leashes, there's some nice benches facing the ocean as well. The dogs seem to be pretty friendly as well and the owners knowledgeable about their dogs behaviors (you will see some owners prefer to be left alone because their dog can be aggressive). Definitely worth going!
