About 2 dirt miles off a main road (route 62), but so worth it. It has been over 115 degrees this week, but we decided to chance a hike here. really beautiful terrain and a small creek (maybe bigger in winter). well maintained.

Highly recommend this terrific hike (in a region with very few dog-friendly hikes). Click through from BringFido to the hike website for specific directions, otherwise hard to find. Keep driving until the road is blocked by a gate. That is the trail -head. Our low-clearance car did fine (going slowly on a couple of short rough spots). Our dog frolicked in the stream (on-leash, as there are rattlesnakes and other dangers). The 1.6 mile hike to the “stone house” is a stunning well-maintained trail, a gentle climb, Clean bathroom at the stone house, along with info about the preserve.

An absolutely great hike to take your dog on. When you turn off the main highway you’ll travel a couple of miles on a dirt road. There aren’t any real signs guiding you in but Don’t worry you’re on the right path. You’ll come to a parking area outside a large metal gate with fence posts.
From there you can take the easy dirt path or be adventurous and walk down by the flowing creek. If you take the latter option be prepared to cross the creek/river several times. Our dog absolutely loved this hike as did we.
There aren’t any trash cans at the parking lot so be prepared to pack out all your waste.
We did the hike in December and the weather was perfect. Views of the mountains and river were excellent

It’s a dirt road really instead of a trail. An easy 3mile walk to the stone house round trip. Trails go further if you’re so inclined. We had a great summer Sunday morning. Splashed in the creek a bit to cool off our paws on the way back.
