Originally went to Marina Green but there was a youth soccer game taking place. Walked over to Chrissy Field beach area and was pleasantly surprised to find many happy and friendly off leash dogs running and playing with friends. Owners were very friendly and within feet of their fur babies. My fur baby had so much fun! It was her first time at a beach and it won’t be our last time here.

Clean, not overly crowded (it was December, though), and you can't beat the view! The Golden Gate Bridge was very close, and you can see Alkatraz from here as well. Lots of friendly people and their dogs.

I discovered this gem while walking my dog along the bike path area. There are tons of dogs there, dogs of all sizes, off-leash and on, there's sand for the dogs that love to dig, water for dogs that love to swim, and plenty of space for your best friend to run and/or relax. It truly made me wish I still lived in SF. My dog was so happy there - it was hard to get him to leave. I've honestly never seen my dog so happy and content in one place before. Make sure you wear sand-proof shoes there, if you go.

The beach is full of dogs swimming and chasing balls. The views are mind-blowing: Golden Gate Bridge, Marin County, Alcatraz. It is a fairly clean beach; people seem to be good at picking up their dogs' waste. After a nice romp, your dog can get a "shower" in the dog rinse area by the restrooms. This a perfect place for active social dogs. My dog gets crazy when we are getting close: he loves it there!
