    Great dog park!

Very great spot for our dog! Dog owners were great with their dogs! And there’s two dog parks there which helped as well.

Great find after hours of travel

First, im so glad this place eas listed so my big dog could run free after 2 days of driving. I need to not that it is behind the animal control building up the hill from parking. I had to ask its location. Dogs all played nice & owners seem alert to dog behaviors. It may not be the leased, pretty park next to it but they can run free! Thanks for putting this place on Fido and for keeping it clean. My boy and I needed a break!

    Awful Experience with Dog owners

There are two areas designated for the dogs. LARGE & SMALL.
We had our 6lb. yorkie/dauschund mix in the small area when a couple decided to bring their 25lb. very energetic dog into the small dog area as well. When I asked them to take their dog to the other area so our SMALL dog could play in his appropriate area they refused to do so because of the pit bulls and large dogs in that area. Heated words were exchanged and with them refusing to leave we had to pick our dog up and leave which honestly wasn't fair to us. We were there first and enjoying until this point. When I ask the security guard to go address the issue he came back and told us that it was a "medium" size dog and he couldn't make them leave. Obviously there needs to be something done about this problem. No one who owns a small dog in the 10lb or under range wants their dog to play with a dog that could hurt them, even if it was accidentally. Very bad experience and unless addressed I don't know if we will return.

Just a patch of grass w/ a fence around it...

This dog park could use some TLC... The water fountains did not work but luckily, there were two water spickets that had paint buckets (literally...one had dried paint still in the bucket) underneath them.
However, the individual areas for both small & large dogs were both a good size. And each area has a good amount of shady area with lots of evergreens & some benches for all of us PAWents...
Probably wouldn't go back to this park unless it was a last resort...

    Douglas Co. gone downhill

Well it appears that certain bully breeds and there breed of owners have no respect for others (suprise). If you can't or won't control your pit bull then don't take them to a public park. Sure wish Earl was still sheriff and these things wouldn't happen in Douglas county. The pit bulls would be back on the other side of the tracks before dark.

    Deer Lick Park

As always, certain breeds should not be allowed in the park period....pit bulls or bully breeds, dobermans, and rotweilers. This is nothing new to those owners. Dogs of that breed are not allowed in many places. PERIOD!

    Had a bad experience

I just moved to the area. I think the park itself is very nice, its a bit hard to find since it is set back from the parking lot but good terrain for romping for the pups. However, I found that other owners (some not all) seem to be ignorant of dog park etiquette. One pit kept pinning my dog down and getting him around the neck multiple times. When a second pit (owned by the same people) started in on their game, I asked them to please call their dog or control their dog. Those particular owners were more vested in yelling insults at me, and identifying this as 'just playing'. I was called ignorant and told 'maybe you don't belong at this dog park". I finally physically lifted the smaller pit by her harness and walked her away from my dog. Then leashed him and left. I will not be returning. Not because of the actual park itself but because of the negative experience. I've been going to dog parks all over SC for years, where I just moved from and never had any issue like this before.

    Bring Water

No running water at the dog faucets or water fountains so bring your own water during winter months. We bought a large thermos of water for our dog, and ended up running out quickly because all the dogs were thirsty and of course we weren't going to deny them water until it was all gone.

    Little Neighborhood Park

It's not fancy, it's not flat and it's not shaded. But the open space is fenced in (without holes in the fence line and separate play areas for large and small dogs) and provides ample space for the dogs to run. Ample parking is close by in two different directions, which is a plus.

    Great on Saturday!

We usually take Charlie on Saturday Mornings and he LOVES it. Lots of running around with other friendly dogs. A nice big water bowl for dogs. Weekends are hit-or-miss but it's a great area to let them run around off leash with tothers. We have a fenced yard and we still bring him here for fun times with other dogs.
