There are MULTIPLE places to stop along the way down the auto road. This is for a few reasons. Obviously to stop and take pictures but mostly to give your vehicle’s breaks a chance to cool off. There’s a strong smell of burnt breaks throughout. Some of these stops are great to take your pup for a little walk away from the larger groups and not as cold and windy. (Note, some of these stops are not ideal for dogs at all) This stop in the picture might be difficult to find. On your way down you’ll see a larger dirt parking lot, I think they park their big road grader here or other large equipment for maintaining the road. You’ll see a tiny tiny path in the left corner from this lot and it opens up to a beautiful big open area.
Dogs allowed throughout this area. But my dog was scared of the wind in the open areas. Also, bring a jacket for the dog if you have one it’s about 35 degrees colder at the top compared to the bottom.
