    Dog park & Botannical gardens

Huge off leash dog park. Benches, picnic tables, wood chips. Logan went crazy- in a good way
Small nice botannical gardens. Nice walk, children’s garden, pleasant.

Huge off leash area, well maintained

This is one of the best dog parks I've been to. First of all the large dog area is enormous. It also has some extras like two faucets with short hoses - on of them has a large tub. There are lots of shade trees, benches and even picnic tables. There is also a restroom building at the entrance. One of the previous reviews complained about the wood chips - but this was a huge plus as we visited in the rainy season. Other parks (like Laguna Lake) would've been a mud pit. Our pup was so happy to get out and romp!

Marked by out of control dogs

We were in town visiting our kids at CAL POLY and of course had to bring our golden and our basset so the kids could get some dog therapy! We decided to try out the local dog park while the kids had classes. First, it looks to be a very pretty park with lots of trees and a nice open size. As a previous reviewer had mentioned, it is not a grassy park. It is covered with large bark pieces. Not a problem for us but some may find it unsteady to walk on. There were about 10 dogs there already. I assume locals as it was a Monday morning. Most appeared to be lab or shepherd mixes. Typical running and playing behavior. Once we entered, we did our usual routine when visiting a new dog park and started walking our dogs around the perimeter while still leashed. Within the first minute, a large white shepherd came running over to investigate. He took one sniff, lifted his leg and peed all down my leg! I have never had a dog mark me! I gave a loud NO! He trotted off quite proudly. No owner or responsible person came up to apologize or even remark on this clearly unacceptable behavior. In fact, as we walked around we observed all the humans standing around talking or looking at their phones. No one was paying attention to the dogs. We were watching, and after seeing aggressive mounting behavior from a couple of intact males and other signs of out of control dogs, we left the dog park and headed down to Morrow Bay. We had a wonderful walk along the bay and around the rock. So, if you catch this park when it is empty of locals, it is probably a great spot. We won’t be returning on our next visit to SLO.

    Ankle twister

The park is in a great place. Nice shade and benches. Only issue we had was there is no grass. It is covered in wood chips, big and small and leaves. Almost impossible to find your dogs business. We were there about 5 minutes before I almost twisted my ankle and my dog was trying to walk easy, it was hurting her feet. Grass would be 5 star. :-(

    Shade, Plenty of Room!

This park is great. It has lots of shade, and two large dog areas. One for large dogs and one for small dogs. It does also have public restrooms and a few nice hiking trails nearby as well.

    Best Park in SLO

A little hard to find, go past the Botanical Garden to the end of the road. Large park is huge with shade, restrooms for humans, bags, tennis balls, benches, picnic tables. My dog loves this place. It's well keep by volunteers.
