    Beautiful Walking Trail

Excellent sidewalk for leash trained dogs. Even early in morning there were plenty of other walkers, joggers and other dogs. Nothing but 4 foot wide trail along the River but you can go 4-5 miles.

    Pup Friendly

we spent our evening strolling through the restaurant area of the river walk. though it is pup friendly, the path along the canal is quite narrow. you may want to use caution when walking your dog on a leash, make sure to keep the leash short especially if you have a dog that tends to walk you… my Yorkie got excited when she saw some ducks and I was super afraid she would have jumped in the river… super pet friendly! just the walkway may not be so conducive to walk a dog especially if congested with heavy foot traffic, so just keep that in mind, especially around the restaurant and shop areas.

Don't take your pup to the Alamo

We walked around the river and up on the street to the Alamo Square where the armed guard chased us away. No Dogs! I stood my ground long enough for 1 picture. Outside dining was fun. No pets on the boats.

    River walk

Definitely recommend doing the smaller downtown area loop of the Riverwalk. It was our first time to visit and we weren’t impressed with the longer stretches. The downtown area near Commerce street had much more going on with more for Oakley to see and explore. It was a chilly morning but going early was great as by 12pm there were many people filling the walkway.

Perfect place to bring your pup!

From an assortment of dog friendly hotels, restaurants & parks. Even was able to take my 5lb ESA into the museum (she was in a sling carrier) with no problem. As long as they are barely seen and not heard you will have that luxury (with proper paperwork of course). There are even hotels that do not have a pet fee. This is def the place to go.

Dog friendly but remember to keep you pup cool in the summer!

I came in May of 2022 and the weather didn't cooperate, there was a heatwave. I would suggest getting up early to take a nice stroll around the Riverwalk. The first day we were there we walked around in the afternoon. Big mistake it was extremely hot and sticky, so hot I didn't want to even eat outside. Our second day was so much better because we got up early. I travel with my 7lb Chihuahua in a bag pack so I want to say its dog friendly, their were times I took him out and put him on his leash. Next time I come, I would love to take the boat tour. I heard someone say its a good solid 2 hours. I just love learning about history

    Nice walk

I took my dog walking in the mornings when there were ZERO crowds. It was nice.

    Beautiful

We took our big Golden Retriever here, and it was a great time. He was a little nervous at spots when we had to pass people on the walkway close to the water, but there were plenty of people with dogs and most of the restaurants had outdoor seating! 10:10 would do again!
