    Great hike

Great height to bring your dog. There’s plenty of stops for your pupper to get their feet wet and drink some cool refreshing waterfall water. We did see a few other dogs on the trail and they were all very friendly. But some people did not pick up their poop bags. I saw them on the way too. We parked in the neighborhood and then took a flat road up. Stay to the right when you hear the stream and follow the trail head up once you get to where you see a bunch of boulders and can hear the waterfall. Stay low and cross the boulder field and then stay next to the wall and you’ll see a beautiful waterfall.

    Nice dog-friendly hike

The majority of Heughs Canyon trail is an off leash trail despite general confusion. The on leash signs only legally apply to the neighborhood and to the first 0.1 mile of the trail while it is still in the city of Holladay. After this point, the trail enters Mount Olympus wilderness in the Uintah-Cache National Forest where dogs may be off-leash. There is no sign indicating this transition. It is true that there is poison ivy all over the trail, which is overgrown and has loose rock, so beware.

    Discovered and busy

Good news has traveled far and wide. Last night we (me and my on leash dog) saw about 20 other dogs yesterday evening. Additional about another 50-60 people. Sadly, many dog owners had their dogs off leash and were adamant this was an off leash trail. There's even a sign on the Canyon Winds Lane street where it states dogs must be on leash (and cleaned up after immediately).

Great trail for water loving dogs!

loved the trail. a bit of a walk through the neighborhood to get to the actual trailhead but well worth it. be kind and take the dog poop all the way out and don’t leave it for the neighbors to find in bags. that’s just rude! didn’t make it all the way up but will be back soon!

    Great spot!

there are a couple different parking area which was a little tricky to find. I went up here in the winter with my Yak- Trax (icy) and the doggo had a great time! beautiful views and off the beaten path of most popular trails. I almost didn’t review because I don’t want other to know about it haha
