Bodie Island Light Station

Bodie Island Light Station in Nags Head is pet-friendly. Dogs are welcome to join their owners in the grounds of this historic lighthouse. Dogs are not allowed inside anymore, despite the lighthouse once being the stomping ground of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Chess who used to climb the tower every day with his owner, the last civilian-era keeper of the lighthouse. Great Historical Site

The lighthouse is really cool and there is a walking trail and boardwalk that are both dog friendly, as are the grounds. My spouse and I staggered times to go into and climb the lighthouse so someone was with our pup the whole time on the ground. It worked really well! You have to reserve tickets ahead of time and they only release tickets day of. Highly recommend

Nice little walk for the pups

Our dogs loved the little walk around the light house and on the small trail by it! They also have water for your pups

    Great location!

We had such a fun time at the Bodie Island Lighthouse with our pup! we went during the off-season so we couldn’t go up into the lighthouse anyways (I don’t think doggos are allowed) but the grounds are beautiful, there’s a nice walking path, and just a fun place to be!
