    Higgins Beach

    Higgins Beach is a dog-friendly beach in Scarborough, ME. Dogs are allowed on and off-leash at Higgins Beach at different times depending on the season. During Peak Season, no dogs are allowed from May 15 to Labor Day 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, but leashed dogs are allowed from sunrise to 9:00 AM or after 5:00 PM to sunset. Look for posted red signs indicating restricted areas. From April 1 to Labor Day, dogs are not allowed in the restricted beach area between Champion Street and the Spurwink River. During the off-season from Labor Day to May 14 dogs on leash are allowed between 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Visit Website

      Best beach for pups

      Great beach for walking with our pup. Lots of space and fun in the waves.

      Higgins Beach will be your dog's favorite place to run.

      Our dog Winnie loves going to Higgins Beach almost as much as we do. Before 9 am, between May 15 and Labor Day, this place is dog heaven! Dogs are allowed to run off-leash (if under voice control). Every dog and their owners are an inclusive bunch. Pay attention to the tides - the beach is expansive at low tide but very narrow at high tide.

      Higgins Beach is a dog lover's paradise

      We love going to Higgins'. Everyone loves dog there. Before 9am, dogs are allowed to run off-leash (if under voice control). Every dog and their owners were lovely. Edwin had a good time!

      The place is very clean. Parking is accessible.

      Great spot!

      We took our pup after 5 p.m., and it was a bit more crowded than I would have liked, but we went to the end of the beach, and it was much quieter there. Great place for fetch. Free and easy parking depending on the time and weather.
