Great spot while crossing MO on I-70

This was a great stop as we drove across Missouri. My only negative comment is there was lots of evidence of people being negligent in picking up after their dogs. Watch where you step!

There are bathrooms located in the parking lot.

Great place to stretch out of travelling get cross country

Waze and Google give wrong directions. From interstate Right onto Providence, Left on Leslie/Vandeven, Right on Garth, park on right about 3/4 mile. Ample parking, there's a fenced leash free area as well as walking trails. There is a 4ft leash restriction to walk the trail but we've come across deer, turtles, water fowl on the trail. Kept the dogs interested! Trail is gravel, but very easy walk.

    OK in winter

Garth is one of the smallest off-leash parks in Columbia, with a small shallow pond in the center. When we visited in summer, the pond was almost completely covered with pond scum, making it really unattractive for swimming. There is a self-service dog-washer at the entrance to the fenced area, so you can wash the scum off your dog if he insists on going into the water. In winter it was much better, Once again, a complaint about dog owners in Columbia - they DO NOT pick up after their dogs. Since there are dank marshes next to the Garth pond, you run the risk of getting bitten by mosquitoes AND stepping in dog poop.

    nice big off leash park

Good size park with a pond. Not too far off the highway to stop for some playtime. Waste bags and water available.

    One of the best

This was a great dog park. Lots of room to run, shade and seating for owners and a pond. What more could you ask for? We stopped as we were heading east and made a point to stop again heading west. Thanks.

Nice park, fairly close to I-70

We were just passing through and this park wasn't far from the La Quinta where we were staying. Park is nice with well maintained walking trails and a fenced area to let the pooch off leash. Dog Park has plenty of seating and plenty of shade. The pond in the middle was kinda skanky when we were there and we didn't let our dog go swimming. Others were, and enjoying it of course. We just didn't want a wet dog in the car or hotel room. We were happy with the hotel and happy with the dog park. We would return to both.

    Garth Nature Area

This area is smaller than some of the others, but there is a ton of benches and tables in the shade. People are really friendly. My dog loves the pond for swimming. The smaller size is perfect because more of the area is in the shade and it's easier to keep an eye on the dogs.
