Paw Park in Axton is pet-friendly. In honor of his late wife Jewel Spencer Marvin, Ed Marvin wanted to embark on a variety of projects that the whole community of Henry County, Virginia could enjoy. This desire, and the help of volunteers and local organizations, is how the Paw Park at Smith River Sports Complex came to life. The state’s first wild and natural dog park covers 2.5 wooded acres, contains a loop trail, tubes for dogs to climb through and has shady picnic tables dotted around. The code for the gate can be obtained with proof of vaccination from the local SPCA.
