In honor of his late wife Jewel Spencer Marvin, Ed Marvin wanted to embark on a variety of projects that the whole community of Henry County, Virginia could enjoy. This desire, and the help of volunteers and local organizations, is how the Paw Park at Smith River Sports Complex came to life. The state’s first wild and natural dog park covers 2.5 wooded acres, contains a loop trail, tubes for dogs to climb through and has shady picnic tables dotted around. Smith River Paw Park Smith River Paw Park is a dog-friendly, membership-only park in Martinsville, VA. A membership is required for use of the park. Your pet will love to play off-leash at this fenced area next to the SPCA, which includes walking trail and agility course. Dogs must be vaccinated and well-mannered. Please bring your Registration Form and proof of license and current rabies shot to the SPCA during regular business hours.
