    Nice!

Lots of sniffs. Beautiful canyon. Bring a walking stick for the 13 stream crossings and a towel to dry dogs legs. Recommend arriving early as the parking lot fills up fast.

    Great Adventure for the Dog!

Our dog loves hiking, and it's even better when she can paddle in and sample the local running water. This is a trail which is well-maintained and widely considered one of the best hikes in the area. It's easy to navigate, heavily trafficked, but not well sign posted. The trail cruises a creek in several places and does have some rocky scrambles which are pretty easy to get over (in case you have kids). The water in the creek was pristine and clear and the dog had a blast splashing around in it! You don't have to go far at all to see water (we only went 2 miles), but apparently there's some good swimming about 3 miles in!

There is a hefty fine for letting your dog off its leash because this trail is surrounded by a protected riparian ecosystem. Several people let their dogs off, but please be responsible humans and don't. Especially because you don't know if other dogs will be uncomfortable with it, and you also don't know if your dog will just see an animal it's never seen before and go after it. Please please please stop disregarding these rules.
