    Not for small dogs

There isn't a separate area for small dogs. Further, the little one got sick shortly after visiting, likely from the feces all over the dirt field.

    Good Location

The facility itself was great and well-maintained. However the folks that have used it have left dog waste all over. Sad that the county has gone to such an effort and expense to make a nice place and a very few of those that use it can’t take care of it.

    Great dog park

We live 20 miles from this park but gladly make the trip at least twice a week. Well maintained facility year round. Clean water source, plenty of buckets and even a large tub. The people who gather here are super-friendly and keep a good eye on their dogs. Place is clean and large. Have met lots of folks passing through on road trips. We live walking distance to another large dog park (which we simply do not like) and gladly make the drive to Hanover. We and our dogs have made so many friends there.

Great experience for a first timer

I was taking my 9 month old GSD Argo to visit my daughter at VCU (a 3.5 hour drive), and thought it would be best to stop on the way down to get some of his energy out (he's got quite a high energy level!). I looked at many reviews, and decided to try this dog park, and it was a very good decision on my part. What a great place! Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. Even though we weren't from the area, I felt like we were part of a community. Thank you very much for being so warm to us!

Passing by on a road trip. Clean nice well maintained park with obstacles. Perfect to visit for us after 3 hours driving with Enzo - our Doberman.

    Great park!

I agree completely with the other reviewer...We were driving through on a road trip and I found this dog park, read their review and we decided to give it a try. It was easy to get to, it's spacious with a few obstacles for the dogs to try if they're up to it. We have a lab so after a few attempts he had them down pat. There was a water pump with a hose hooked up, buckets for water and two plastic kiddie pools that he took advantage of since it was in the high 70's. There's a decent sized tree and two benches; besides that there wasn't much shade but we were the only ones there so it didn't matter much. It was mostly grass and some packed dirt - it was definitely a lot better than some dirt/mulch dog parks we'd seen before. He had a great time running and stretching his legs, and then cooling off in the kiddie pool. It's right across from their animal control facility so at first we doubted if it was for public use but they had all of the typical dog park rules signs and nothing said "Not for public use". Overall, glad we stopped here!

    Great spot!!

This is a fabulous park! It's right off of 1-95, which was great for us, since we stopped off while driving from NYC to North Carolina. The park is large and clean, with some agility equipment (2 A-frames, a set of jumps, and a dog walk...maybe more, but I can't recall). It is fenced in, grass (not wood chips), and there are benches around the perimeter for owners to sit on and watch the action if they don't want to join in. There were a number of balls and a couple of other toys. Do bring your own water -- I saw some buckets but there didn't appear to be a fountain or hose to refill them with. There's no shade, so it can get hot on sunny days! Everyone was very nice -- dogs and owners alike! One of the best dog parks we've been to!
