  Dirty and Dangerous

  Last resort only. We stop preferentially at Love’s while traveling, specifically because of the dog parks. We’ve visited them all over the eastern US. This is the worst I’ve ever seen. Really it’s the only bad one we’ve encountered. There are big spaces under the gates that small dogs could walk under almost without noticing and medium dogs could wiggle through with no trouble. The gate hardware was in poor condition and not working properly, very hard to keep latched. So even large dogs would get out just by accidentally bumping into the gate. There was poop everywhere. Even if people wanted to clean up after their dogs, the bag dispensers were empty, so if they forgot their own supply, they had no options. Even if they did bring their own bags, there was nowhere to put it as both bins were overflowing with poop. There was one picnic table and no trees. Sorry to give a bad review, but if I’d known how bad it was we’d have held out for another Loves. There’s one about a half hour further west and other less than an hour east.

  Convenient Stop

  This fenced in area was in front of the Love’s gas stop. The area was a good size for our pups to stretch their legs mid-trip and there was ample parking right near by.

  Downside was lots of poop from other dogs in the play yard, that wasn’t cleaned up. A little bit of a mine field. Despite all the poop, would probably stop again.

  Why five stars?

  This rating is relative to other similar travel stop dog parks. This particular park is one fenced grassy area approximately 40x40 (?) with multiple decent sized trees for shade and two picnic benches. Located in the corner where it's less congested. Didn't notice much pet waste. Only complaint was overflowing trash bins in the area.
