Hinckley Park

August 2021 - Concerns about unleashed dogs, dog waste and invasive species at Hinckley Park has prompted the South Portland City Council to enact a temporary leash requirement in the park.
The off-leash area in this South Portland park includes two ponds where your pooch can go for a swim. Be careful as the area is not fenced. Visit Website

    Pretty walk, NOT off-leash anymore

We came looking for an off-leash place for our dog to run around. There was a bunch of (presumably new) signage saying dogs must remain on leash at all times. We still enjoyed the walk but it was not what we expected.

Charlie loves it, and so do we!

We've been coming here for a while now, and with the expansion it just keeps getting better!

    Off-leash heaven

Lots of windy paths, two ponds for swimming, open fields: this is dog heaven and yes, off-leash is permitted. Go!

    Great Walk

Lots of trails. 2 ponds to let dogs swim. Not fenced, but dogs can run off leash. People and dogs friendly here.

    dog-love!

Most dogs were off-leash and bounding around the pond, plenty of squirrels and ducks to keep our Henry happy, even had a swim! Not too crowded and really quite beautiful.

    best park for swimmers

It's like a huge dog run. I don't know whether off-leash Is technically permitted, but the dogs seem to think it is. Wonderful time, we've been three times.
