We stopped to stretch our legs on the way to Cape Cod for a second time. Nice pond to cool off in on a hot day. The old ballfield was a great place to... what else...play ball. Magnificent views from the pond tower for dogs not afraid to climb metal stairs. Somewhat confusing to find. Trails not marked and interweave, and maps unclear. Important to have a good sense of direction.

I have a lovely hound puppy (10 months old( who was supposed to be a "Lab cross" but is almost pure hound, sweet, obedient most of the time and loves to please and play with other dogs, but she RUNS once her nose is in hound gear, so MUST be kept leashed or fenced. It would be so nice if the park were fenced for the many dogs who don't, because they can't, come when called.

We stopped on our way to Cape Cod. What a find. For a public parc it's amazing. Dogs are welcome to walk the beautiful wooded trails off leash. There was also a pond for our lab to cool off in. Not much open space but enough to play ball with the dog. Thanks Montpelier.
