Shookum Volcano Trail is located within dog-friendly Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve near Copper Center, AK. One of the Nabesna Road Area trails, Shookum Volcano Trail is a 4.2 mile out and back route with spectacular scenery, alpine plants, volcanic geology, and wildlife. Leashed dogs are welcome to accompany you on this moderately challenging hike which should take 3 hours to complete. The best time of year to hike the trail is between June and September.
