Caribou-Targhee National Forest
Caribou-Targhee National Forest in Idaho Falls, ID is dog-friendly. This spectacular forest provides year-round recreation opportunities for you and Fido. Camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, and riding ATVs are just some of the popular outdoor pursuits which attract visitors to the forest. During your visit, take Fido along Darby Canyon Wind Cave Trail. This 6.3 mile trail leads hikers through woodland, scenic meadows, and a hilly area overlooking the the picturesque valley below. A waterfall marks the onward journey towards the ice caves, but dogs and their owners should only admire these from a distance. The Caribou-Targhee National Forest has two wilderness areas, Jedediah Smith and Winegar Hole, and many points of interest such as The Curlew National Grassland, Upper Palisades Lake, Mesa Falls, Teton Canyon, and Mink Creek Recreation Area.
