Usually a good place, but my 30 lb dog was surrounded by a pack of bigger dogs as she entered, and one of them took a bite out of my dogs’ side and drew blood. Unfortunate incident as my dog liked to go there.

    Our Home Park

This park is easy to get to by vehicle, with 25 +/- spots or through the nature trails from the neighborhoods around it or the main park parking lot.

No water on site, but all the regulars bring plenty to share. We frequent it 2-4 times a week and even with a large crowd of 30-40 dogs, there is still PLENTY of room for our Vizsla to stretch out and run 38 mph with lots of room.

Poop bags and garbage cans are provided by both entrances to the park.

    Great Dog Park

I live in Springfield and drive 20 min to get here. The ground has gravel but is soft enough for my dog to run as much as he wants.

    good sized park

Lots of complaining about hiking to the park but isn't that the idea with a dog? You can drive too. It's a good sized park with a nice bunch of regulars. Never had a particular problem with aggression. I've seen big dogs little dogs all getting on fine. No running water but regulars bring water. Dog bags provided. Usually quite well picked up. Parking or walk up thru the woods - good for bigger dogs. Benches and tree shade.

    great park

I have a tiny dog (10 pounds) who is not shy and likes playing with big dogs. We have never had a problem- most dogs are well behaved and many owners are attentive and come frequently so they know all the dogs and help separate if necessary (rarely). Nothing fancy but it's big and great to run around not in a crowd. Don't enter through the park/trails- it's confusing!

    Great Community Dog Park

Once you figure out that the way to the dog park is NOT the way shown on the signs and instead on the Little River Turnpike side all is fantastic. Generally the dogs that hang out here are big but that is not a problem for smaller dogs such as my 25lb corgis. The owners here are very responsive to their dogs, that said have common sense and don't bring a poorly socialized or timid small dog to a park without a segregated small area until your dog is comfortable with larger dogs. The shale rock flooring dryies extremely quickly after a rain and is almost like kitty litter when you have to clean up. The park lacks a lot of shade and running water but is generally a good size. It was never meant as a regional destination (ie Shirlington) and is obviously meant as a local community playground.

    be careful

This park is only good when there aren't many people/dogs. There are regular problem dogs/owners. The park is very small too.

Dawn is correct. Too dangerous for small dogs as I found out tonight and the people, well they should take a lesson from their dogs!

    I like it

Yes you have to hike through the unmarked trail in the woods to find this place, it's a nice walk, and I found it on the first try (with some help from dog-people I passed). OR for all the non-adventurers you can drive to it. Take Pinecrest Pkwy off of Little River Tpke, look for the gravel parking lot. As far as the park- it's a large fences in yard, small gravel not mud. There's 2 entrances so be sure both gates are closed. Lots of tables , benches, trashcan and toys. No separate place for small dogs. Trees for shade on one side.

    Not suitable for small dogs

This would be a great park.... if it had separate areas for small and large dogs. Instead, there aren't. So, regrettably, if you have a small dog, don't even think of going there. It's just too dangerous!
