    Now Fenced In

I have been taking my puppy to the mingo dog park 3-4 times a week lately. The whole area is fenced in, but they have separate fenced areas for small and large dogs. There is also a sign stating rules for the off leash area. There is a bit of brush, rocks, and trees in the middle of each area which isn’t ideal.
When I first heard the park was now fenced in, I kept my puppy on leash and walked the perimeter of the small dog area to check for holes under the fencing that she might be able to fit through, and I didn’t find any. Definitely recommend giving mingo a second chance now that’s its fenced in!

    HUGE... But runners beware!

My wife and I took the day off and ventured to Mingo with our 8 year old Husky and 5 month old Australian Shepherd.

The off leash area is HUGE! I spent a good 30-45 minutes just exploring and still didn't come close to covering the entire area. The bottom section was in pretty good shape. It was recently mowed but the grass was still a little long, but it's a dog park who cares. The top section is accessed by a small clearing in the brush and is much worse maintained. It's very open but the grass and weeds are at least 6 inches tall.

Overall it's great but my only complaint is that there isn't a true fenced in section. 95% of the area is only contained by brush. While my Aussie will stay within 50 feet, the Husky would have been gone and never seen again. It's not a huge deal but I wish I had known or I would have brought a 25 or 50 foot lead.

Overall it's a nice area, quiet and decently maintained, I just wish at least part of it was fully enclosed so my runner could have been off leash.

    Great time

Took my dog to the unleashed area on Easter Sunday. We loved it, they put up a fence so that the dogs cant get to bike/jogger trail. and we had a wonderful time walked the trail played in the waterfall. made lots of friends, we will be going back. I will recommend to all my pet friends.

was going to come to park.

I was going to come to the park so my dog could run and play with other dogs and people and was told that it is not close to road. now that i find out that there is a trail thru where bikes are dont want to bring my dog because he will chase. boy that upsets me cause i was looking forward to free run with friends. He is my social butterfly. hey maybe we can put up something to keep biker and joggers off when we are there.

    used to be much nicer

We walk at this dog park almost every day but perhaps not for much longer. The park admin put a bike trail through most of the park, including this dog park. As an added issue, the bike trail connects to a playground. Bikes, rollerbladers, baby carriages and joggers now invade our part of the park.

What was for years a great place to enjoy a peaceful walk has now become overcrowded and dangerous for our dogs. Park officials used to be dog-friendly but now harrass the very same dog owners who have been using the park for years.

Pennsylvania is NOT dog friendly and this dog park is now managed by an admin who seems to hate dogs.
