    Nice park

not sure why the negative reviews if your dog does not get along with other dogs there are a total of three separate enclosed areas

    Aggressive dogs beware

If I could give this dog park less ratings I would. Every time I am there, my dog gets attacked. This is not an exaggeration. If your dog is unable to greet/play with another dog without lunging, snapping, growling, or biting, they are NOT suited for a dog park. If your dog resource guards or excessively humps, for the love of god DO NOT let them continue this behavior?! Most of us are strangers and do not feel comfortable correcting another dog's behavior. If your dog behaves aggressively towards mine, do NOT tell me "they are okay, don't worry". Be the bigger person and leave. Monocacy Dog Park needs to do a better job monitoring the behavior of dogs and humans here. It is incredibly dangerous and I have seen too many fights.

Don't bring your dogs here if...

There are other dogs there. Seriously. The fenced in yards are great and the location is gorgeous. However, 9 times out of 10 my dog gets pinned down/scruffed/bit/mounted by other dogs to the point she is literally not able to get up from the ground. The owners do nothing and my dog is clearly in distress. Please read about proper etiquette before bringing your dog to the dog park. Maybe it is my opinion, but most dogs do NOT like being bit repetitively during play.

    Horrible

I decided to see for myself. The reviews are correct. Several aggressive dogs with the owners NOT paying attention at all! Snotty clicky people. No one even said hi. I tried to introduce myself and my dog and people looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. One guy opened the door and walked out to throw poop away without checking to see if dogs were near the door. Two almost got out. Meanwhile, his dog was unattended. Also very dirty. Trash everywhere in and outside of the fenced area. I will never go back.

    Nice Size

I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews on here - even IF there were aggressive dogs, that’s not really a solid critique of the dog park itself.
The dog park has separate sections for small and large dogs which is nice - so everyone is more evenly matched.
The park has benches and nice, big trees for shade.
There’s also a fountain with a bowl for constant fresh water.
Some longtime people were kind of click-y, but I didn’t come to the dog park to become part of some elite group, I came to socialize my dog.
All of the dogs there today seemed very friendly, and none of the owners were aggressive or mean and they all kept watch on their dogs.

DONT BRING YOUR DOG HERE IF UNSOCIALIZED

Never had an issue with this park in the past but today my sweet 6 month old golden retriever was attacked by an unsocialized dog. Owners knew this and even had an air horn and mace on them in the event this happened. I am so beyond thankful that my pup is okay, but he was hurt and was rushed to the emergency vet. I’m heartbroken this happened. Don’t take your dogs here unless you want them to be attacked.

    Good park, cliquey people

The regulars only talk to each other, which is fine but they talk about the other people and dogs, and are not discreet about it.
The size of the 3 sections is great. They have water hoses and bowls for your dogs. This park is far from my house but i really enjoyed the size and number of dogs always there, until i was there the same time as the grumpy people, and have since stopped going.

    Agressive people

Any dog can be digressive in certain situation. Adopted dogs can be aggressive course they was abused previously by people and especially by children. They need to learn how to act more than others. It is ALL OWNERS responsibility. And parents have to remember children under 11 yo not allow
in dog parks. After all dogs are an animals.

    Not Too Impressed

Wasn't too impressed with this park. Yes the environment is nice but if you have a dog that truly loves to run and play this isn't the place for your dog. We have a one year old who loves to run and play with anyone she meets. It was a beautiful afternoon and about 12 dogs at the park. None of them really wanted to do anything except just stand there. Our dog kept coming over to us which is rare for her at a dog park cause usually she's so busy playing. The owners were not social and stayed in their "clicks". There were even dogs that were kept on their leashes inside the fenced area and when our dog went to go say hi, the own told our dog to go away. We were disgusted for we thought this was a place for our dog to socialize and play...guess not!

    Wow

I am really surprised by the people that feel the need to attack others for posting their experiences. I for one won't be happy if some dog attacked my dog in any setting that is supposed to be a friendly environment.

    Petty people park

you people who complain about other dogs and their owners are so pathetic and use up your time on here to rant about other people's dogs and how "socialized" they are. you should spend more time rescuing dogs and socializing THEM instead of wasting your time here to complain about other people that you know nothing about and why there might be a greyhound with a muzzle on. it's so sad people like you exist . you are the one who need socialization.

It's not the park it use to be

I been coming to this park for two years. It started off good but lately had been attracting owners of aggressive dogs who feel that it's okay if they dogs attack other dogs because as they say "dogs will be dogs"

    Be warned about aggressive dogs

Very nice park and there are two sections for smaller dogs and larger dogs, which I think is a good idea. Most of the people there are very nice as well. However, there are many owners who bring in poorly socialized and aggressive dogs that growl and snap at other dogs. Every other time I go there a dog fight happens. My 8 month old Rottweiler was attacked by a poorly socialized Doberman that has been there before and has always been aggressive. My dog got too close and the Doberman lunged at wouldn't let go of my dog until the owner pulled him off. Luckily my dog wasn't hurt but he didn't even try to fight back because he's a puppy. People who know their dogs are dog aggressive need to keep them at home or at on-leash places where they have control of them. A dog is going to get seriously hurt one day because of owner's negligence.

    Favorite place

My pup and I frequent the large dog park often. We actually drive an extra 15 minutes past a park closer to our home to get to Monocacy. Love all the GRASS, shade trees (in the large dog area), and running water. The atmosphere is laid back but friendly. One of the best features is that there are TWO separate large dog areas, plus the small dog area. If you have a problem with a dog or owner, you can always go to the other area. There are also nature trails and even access to the creek!!

Very nice park, but aggressive dogs

The park is spacious and has three separate areas and is a great park for dogs. But watch our for aggressive dogs, especially this one greyhound which came in with a muzzle on!! That should be the first warning sign and then it completely attacked our two small dogs and the woman owner had no ability to get a hold of her dog. It was up to us to save our dogs from her 100-pound greyhound with a muzzle.

Great place for both of us!

This is located by the swimming pool and the skating rink, on Illicks Mill Rd - follow the parking lot all the way to the end, the dog park(s) are over the small hill. I have been bringing my Yorkie Bennie there for several years. He loves it, he has made many friends there, and , as for the owners - there are no better people than those who love dogs! It wears him out - I take home a happy, well exercised (though sometimes dusty or muddy) dog. I am really glad I found this place.

    Benny the Greyhound

Took Benny our Greyhound to the dog park today. This was our 1st visit to any dog park ever..Had a blast !! Benny loved the area there were benchs to sit down on, shaded areas, plenty or provided waste bags, fresh water inside the gated area..It was nice to seperate the large dogs from smaller dogs..We will definantly be going back...Only complaint is for some owners to clean-up their dog waste..bags are provided if u dont have any so theres no excuses..

    Great space and great people!

We discovered this park a few years ago. We were looking for one for our dog Curly Sue but couldn't find any in Allentown. This park is great because there is plenty of space for the dogs to run and play. Most of the owners are very responsible and the dogs are well trained! It is clean and I love the fact that it is fenced off so small dogs have their are and big dogs have theirs. There's lots of parking space also. A great park!
