    Aggressive dogs

Don’t bring your puppy in the big dog park! We have a 45lb golden retriever puppy and as soon as we came in 3 large dogs were barking at him and then trying to bite him, the owners were nowhere to be seen and never apologized for their dogs. If you have a puppy stick to the small dog section where people and dogs are nicer. This was in the morning and they were all in a group, apparently this is a common occurrence with them. Only giving it 2 stars bc of the small dog part

    Snooty People, Beautiful Park

The people are not social or friendly that I have come into contact with while I have been with my dog. This should not be that big of an issue if chatting isn’t something you do at the park. The large dog section has a large hill and some shade and the smaller dog section is full of shade. Great park, but I’d go to barc parc south

    Open to Everyone & Travelers

Entrance close to parking lot. Separate small & Lg play yards. Doggy fountain & waste bags. Plenty of benches along a sidewalk in both play yards. Small side is shaded, Lg side is sunny. The dog park is along side a Y (YMCA - gym) shared parking lot. Im guessing its frowned upon to use the Y's bathroom - porta potty is available near dog park. The people were friendly. I posted pics below

    Great

We use the small dog park and find everyone friendly as well as the other dogs. I guess it is a good thing we don't have a large dog according to the reviews. Your little one is safe here and the owners treat yours like their own.

    Worst ever!

Picture lots of beautiful land, a nice drinking station for the dogs, and a clique of people and they’re hyper aggressive huge dogs.

I gave this place three chances before giving it a review. They’re always the same people with the same bad attitude dogs. The dogs are aggressive and the people think their dogs are funny being bullies. I have a medium-size puppy and him getting shredded is not funny. I had to take him to the little dog side where the dogs were much better behaved and the people were much more responsible. Still, my puppy is a Rhodesian ridge back which means he won’t be able to go over there for much longer. Don’t waste your time with this park. Not unless you want your dog to learn really bad behaviors or get injured.

    ugh

The dogs are far too aggressive here and are not properly socialized from the three times I gave it a chance. We’re not going back.

    Home away from home.

Our German Shepherd starts dragging his leash around by about 9:30 every morning, wanting to go see his friends. Big dogs recognize big dog lovers, so don't be surprised to find a 70-lb. dog trying to climb in your lap! The dogs love their friends' owners as much as their doggie friends. We all watch all the dogs. If someone doesn't notice that their dog left a deposit, we point it out. No one takes offense. The dogs run, wrestle, roll in the dirt, and run again. We caution people with toddlers that they will be mowed down by a herd of big dogs. We help owners of new rescues with acclimating new, timid dogs. It takes a village. Occasionally, we have to ask that a too-aggressive dog be removed. But you will meet people from all over the world, and see dogs of all breeds, even rare breeds. If you want, you will make good friends who become part of your social circle, and even keep your dog if you have to go out of town unexpectedly. Just expect a bit of rowdiness, and stay out of the way when the dogs are running in a pack! And don't wear your best clothes!

    Beautiful park, dissapointing atmosphere

I was so excited for my annual trip to Myrtle Beach this year! I've been researching dog parks and planned to take my babies to all the parks nearby so they can enjoy their vacation too! As soon as we arrived in Myrtle Beach, after a long 10 hour drive, we stopped by the Barc Parc North, before heading to our house. I thought it was an absolutely beautiful park, clean and had a great layout. However, if you are going to the park so that your dog can run off some energy, play and socialize with other dogs, while you pet dogs, talk to owners and just enjoy a beautiful day, which is how most dog parks are from my experience, this is absolutely not the park to go to. Maybe my past dog park experiences have been strange, as I am from out of town, but at the time I went to Barc Parc North, the owners didnt allow their dogs to socialize, an elderly man hit my dog in the face, as my dog walked past and attempted to greet him and his cute dog. In addition, there was a lady sitting IN THE DOG PARK, without a dog, and openly admitted that she was scared of dogs, so she screamed when dogs came near her, thus upsetting all the dogs. The overall atmosphere was cold and generally unfriendly. I even asked someone if this was a private dog park because of the elitist attitude of the people there.
If you are accustomed to dog-friendly, people-friendly and fun atmospheres, I would highly recommend staying away. I am so disappointed right now and we have only been in Myrtle Beach for an hour now.

    Could be better

I tried this park after reading great reviews. I was disappointed. There was poop everywhere, no one cleans up after their dogs. There were random teenagers without any dogs hanging out. And the strangest thing I saw was a chain connected to a tr(eee(for who knows what purpose). It has potential, if the regulars start taking care of the place better.

    HUGE!

Wow! What an amazing park for our Shiba to run around in! Fully fenced, great hours, and big/little dog separated. We will be missing this more than anything when we head home. Make sure to bring your rabies vaccination records/tag!

Myrtle Beach Has Great Dog Parks

A nice terraced park with lots of grass with a six foot tall fence. Plenty of bag dispensers, trash cans and some benches. The small dog park is larger than most regular dog parks. Lots of trees in the small dog park with fewer for the large dog park. Our Greyhounds loved it.

    expectations were too high

The park itself was nice. I heard about it through this site and had read all the great reviews. There was a lot of poop not picked up from their owners and a few pet parents that didn't correct their dogs aggressive behaviors. I ended up having to leave because their dogs were being aggressive with my dog. I would definitely go back though

    Nice place

Overall this place was very nice. Owners seemed to have good control of their dogs and everyone was very friendly and would talk to you. The only downside was there were many holes from dogs digging and my one dog was running and fell in the hole and bit his tongue hard and was bleeding pretty good for a short period of time. If not for the holes this place would be perfect. Clean and the small and large dogs were separated for safety. Will be returning!

    TERRIFIC!

Loved this dogpark when we visited in 2012. Planning on going there again our next visit. Was a little hard to find immediatley, but now that we know where it is, it will be a regular stop when our pups are vacationing with us. Loads of room for your dog to run and play. Shade spots are available as are drinking fountains for the dogs. Can't say how much I wish our local dog park was more like this!!!!

    Loved it!

We went to the parc the first night of our stay and have been back 3 times already! Our dog Jax got to run around off his leash and make friends with some of the most amazing breeds.i really wish we had dog parks where we live, this one is amazing- huge, easily accessible and clean. We'll definitely come back as much as possible the next time we stay here!

    Great Park

While staying in Myrtle Beach we went to a few dog parks. This one, I believe, was the nicest. I can only say I agree completely with the other comments here. It is a wonderful park for the dogs and our two loved it while we stay for our vacation. I wish I had something this nice by me!

    Great Friendly Place

We have been coming to BARC for a year every time we are in town as our dogs travel with us. It's a big piece of land they have allocated for both large and small dogs with pet drinking fountains.
For the most part people do a good job of cleaning up after their dogs but in the summer time they need to cut the grass more often as it's quick to lose sight of your dogs deposit.
My dogs come back and pass out from all the running...a tired dog is a happy dog.

    Best Park in NMB/MB area

I've been to the one in Shallote since I live in Calabash and it was terrible compared to this! Nice big dog area with sloped hills to tire pups (and pup parents) out, nice walking trail and clean areas (despite mud from recent rain). Friendly people, very good place and worth the drive from Calabash :)

    Great Place

We took 2 Shih Tzus there twice over Memorial weekend. Nice small dog area! Great experience for our first dog park ever. People were nice and park was well maintained.
From Surfside go N on 17 bypass to 62nd. Turn left at light, and left again into YMCA parking. Barc Park is at the end of the parking lot. To new to be on GPS.

Enough room to tire out a Jack Russell mix :) Cali had a great visit--- making new friends and running those short little legs off!

    How Nice!

Super clean, shady, nice benches, water fountain, sidewalks, dirt hills to run on, friendly people and nice dogs. What more could you ask for! They do need to mark the street as to the YMCA being back there. We missed it and had to come back.

    4 Paws UP!

Love it. Made many 4-legger friends there, everyone smells good and sometimes their owners bring treats and actually share them. Couldn't ask for more.

    ADA Compliant

Excellent facility. Totally friendly to disabled individuals. A person in a wheel chair or scooter can safely go through the park on the concrete trails. This truly complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Too bad they didn't do this in Surfside Beach.
