we live near this park and used to go frequently however people stopped having control of their dog and don’t know what is & isn’t proper dog behavior. lots of fence fighting between big and small dog area, people think it’s cute & encourage it. people show up drunk or drinking. times best to go before 830a 12-3p after 7p (when it’s still light) bathrooms are usually clean! park is a nice size.

It was nice for an hour and a half with one other dog they got along fine. The conversation was nice with the adults. A big rude human showed up with her aggressive dog and her dog starts grawling and biting at my dog. She tells me, my kids and dog need to go on the other side for big dogs because mine is bigger. I told her her dog was the only aggressive one in the park our dogs were fine until hers arrived she was very nasty and rude and so is her dog she told me that her dog was previously attacked by bigger dog. Sorry that's not my fault nor my dog. Probably because her dog is aggressive. Like dog like owner. They both came in to take over so we left but I did report it to animal control about her aggressive dog.

I took my girl there and we never made it into the fence because it was several dogs barking and growling at us as we approached. I asked the owners if they were friendly and they said yes they're just protecting the fence and went on about their business talking to each other paid. Needless to say I did not take my girl in there as I felt the dogs were a little to aggressive just to be guarding the fence

I have heard terrible reviews of this park since Hurricane Charley. I visited it for the first time with my dog Monday 2-13-2017. It looked like a place where the dogs brought their humans. The active dogs ran around and had mock-fights like dogs do. One dog was on the bottom of the pile and was having a delightful time. Suddenly, she uttered a single yelp. All the dogs in the fight scattered. To translate this into 'human' the fight was good fun, until someone was hurt. Then the fight stopped instantly, but they rejoined the fray shortly afterward. My Ronni is lab/whippet. she is older and chooses not to join the fun. She was greeted and allowed to simply watch. The runners ran, the scrappers played together, and the people friendly dogs just watched and greeted the humans. This place is fun, for dog people

I was recently at the park with my Standard poodle who is 7 months old. I put her leash on her when 2 women came in with a white shepard and another dog. The dogs were not on leashes and when I asked if they were friendly both women said yes and let my dog off leash so they could play. As soon as I did the white dog attacked my poodle and chased her all around the park till my dog could get to me for protection. The park is dirty and I had spent a lot of time cleaning up dog poop before I even let her play since we were the only ones there. I would never go back there and I wanted to post this so no one would have the terrible experience I had. Beware of the people and their dogs at this park!

We've been going to this dog park for about a year now and everyone is very welcoming and gets along great. We like this dog park because after exploring the other dog parks in the area this one has the best behaved dogs. The dogs all play awesome and enjoy each other!
- PaulaMore than a year agoNot Inviting
The park itself is rather nice- water, shade, room to run. This is keeping the rating from being a 1. The people however are not inviting and really ruin the experience. I've been bringing my dog here 5 times a week for about a month and have been given nothing but the cold shoulder. My dog plays a bit on the rough side and when another dog snap at her and drew blood (which was okay) snarky comments about my dog 'deserving' this retaliation were made.I will no longer be going to this park. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Visited and enjoyed this park 2 years ago. This visit, it seemed even better cared for with water and new dog bowls (someone said from this county) and was clean. Kids playground adjacent and restrooms. Friendly people with nice dogs. What would make it a little better for us is a larger Small Dog area as my dog enjoys chasing her ball, but that is a minor quibble.
- KenMore than a year agoNever again
my dog got attacked. The owner only said "my dog only wants to play". High vet bill for only one visit.

Nice park, but the morning people see the park as there property. Everyone how is different they will send away. The dogs from them aggressive. Take care by a white shephard, a German shephard and a men with three small dogs and a Husky. It is sad that the county allow people like them going there.

- PaulaMore than a year agoThis is a Great Dog Park!
We travel full-time and try to go to a dog park in every town we stay at. We found this one easily and it's great: grass, shade, picnic tables for the humans, fresh water, doggie bags. Also, a playground for kids right next door.

I think this is referring to the Edgewater park on the southwest corner corner of Edgewater and Bayshore. Edgewater Dog Park – 22410 Glass Lane, Port Charlotte
