Great location, mostly dirt run area

This dog run has plenty of space to chase balls & sticks. Fresh water & some bowls. Bring your own toys (or donate some to park).

Mostly a fenced off dirt run, no separation for different sized dogs, with some wood chip cover. Next to a playground & grassy field for picnics. close to Manayunk sidewalk cafes. Fun stop before dinner!

    Good Local Go-To

I read previous reviews but the park must have taken note and made updates, there is plenty of bark mulch over the ground and it’s fenced and sealed around the perimeter. I would like to visit a few more times but the people and dogs I came across on this particular day/time (Tuesday, Noonish) were well mannered. I was advised if can get pretty populated in the evening hours.
There are bowls but bring your own water.

Dirt, But The Pups Don’t Mind!

They recently put up a new fence along the brick wall. It gets muddy when it rains, but the pups don’t mind. Our Huskita has enough space to run full tilt and loves sitting along the step in the middle (it’s two levels). They turn the water off in the winter, but in the summer there is a water fountain for the pups!

Ok but wouldn't be my first choice

We usually take our 28 pound terrier mix pup to the Roxborough park just up the street and she loves it there, but this past weekend there were no dogs there for her to play with so we took a chance and brought her to Pretzel Park because she really needed to run and xpend some energy. I had read about the low wall and boy they weren't kidding. They absolutely need a fence along it. Yes, the park is all dirt but they're dogs so it's fine. The owners seemed friendly since my dog loves people and she kept going up and saying hi to everyone, they all pet her. The bigger problem is the park is uneven and there are a few "levels" and steps. We watched one dog run right into the step and her owner thought she broke her foot (thankfully it seemed like she didn't after a minute). Since my pup has a bit of Jack Russell in her, it only took her a few minutes before she realized she could hop up on the wall. Thankfully she didn't get a chance to jump down but if she's small and she could do it, I can't imagine how easy it would be for a bigger dog. I'd take her here again as a last resort to get her running around, but it wouldn't be my first choice. Go a few blocks up to Roxborough or venture to Spruce Street (the BEST park in the city, tbh) instead for a far better experience.

Theres nothing but dirt here. This park needs to be covered with mulch.

    Dangerous

Horrible! Our 7mo old Springer Spaniel was in the fenced in area about 30 seconds before he jumped that low part of the wall and was off running down the street. Fortunately some people out walking were able to help me corral him before he got hit by a car. He didn't even have time to get into the giant mud pit in the middle!

    alright

I've only been here once, but through my experience, I would not go back. The wall is far too low on one side right next to a street. (it is a 5 1/2 foot drop, but a dog could do it) The park is all dirt, which really doesn't bother me, but the owners are what really deter me. The owners are unattentive and unaware of how their dogs interact. MY pup got a large cut on her ribs from an aggresive dog the second (the other dog) came in. Just go to the Roxborough park if you live in this area, friendly and responsible owners and a clean area for your pups to play

    Okay

It is all dirt. The one wall is really low at a certain point as well, and larger dogs can jump over it if they wanted. Parking can be difficult as well. But my dogs have fun every time we go!

    Dirt!

This park is nothing but dirt. My dog has medium length hair and had to get a bath after leaving this park. Also, there is a lower gate of the park that dogs can easily jump over. Once I saw this, I left. On a positive note, I met two friendly dog owners and their dogs.

Okay but occasionally run into other aggressive dogs

The area is fenced in for the most part however the wall is extremely low on one end. A dog can easily jump out into traffic and get lost in the neighborhood. Often we run into dogs that will just bark and gang up on one dog. The owners don't do anything about it so we or another dog and owner who this has happened to has to leave. I would find somewhere else to play or come late at night when nobody is there.
