Pros: separate areas by size as well as one area for all sizes together, some shade, often a breeze, water fountain, ample parking, restrooms. Cons: due to drought is all dirt and hard packed and dusty now. Areas are sloped. Short walk from parking.
Town allocated $500,000 for improvements approx two years ago, but still in works (allegedly they spent $100k in planning and last mont just brought in some dirt - not top soil). Hope they spruce it up a bit. Maybe some artificial turf? We can dream. Still, a great spot. I didn't note any lights, but someone claimed there are some...could be an urban legend. - WendyJul 15, 2020Guaranteed Good Time
The turf is still spotty, but there’s plenty of shade and water. The RB dog park was recently allocated $500,000 for improvements and it will be interesting to see how and when it’s spent. Ziggy and I always have a good time here - nice people with nice dogs!

This dog park was once wonderful. Because of the drought the City of San Diego decided to stop watering it. It is nothing but dirt now with the occasional rattlesnake. No place to water your dog or yourself; you have to bring in your own. Don't go here.

The above picture is what it used to look like before they stopped watering the grass and trees in the pen. Now it is a rutted, sandy, urine filled mess. Half the trees and most of the grass is dead. The water taps for the dogs have been pulled out.

Three pens are great. One for small dogs, one for large dogs, one for all dogs. Great exercise areas as there are hills and inclines in each pen. Lots of trees in each pen. More benches and shade structures for people could be in there, but the pens are for the dogs, not humans.
