Liffy Island Trail

Bring Fido for a walk in nature on the pet-friendly Liffy Island Trail in Jefferson, NJ. The 2.9-mile hike begins near the parking area at Prospect Park. If you'd like a shorter 0.8 mile hike, park on the shoulder of Prospect Point Rd and start there. You and your pup can enjoy a hike through the woods, then onto the boardwalk to cross the water. From there, you'll get to explore Liffy Island and take in the views of Lake Hopatcong. Be sure to keep your pup leashed while on the trail and remember to clean up after them. Visit Website

Nice walk
It is a pretty gentle path. Very little uphill and some trails branching off to explore. Unfortunately I take one bone away because a lot of people on this trail do not pick up after their pets and feces and flies have been pretty abundant a few times.

Nice hike with the dog!
We parked on Prospect Point Road and took the shorter but wilder trail in. It's just about a mile to the boardwalk that connects the mainland to Liffy Island, then there are a lot of trails on the island, some of them ending at the water. Our dog met a few other pups on the trail and got to jump in the water three times, so it was a great day for him. My husband and I both hit our daily minimum 10,000 steps in two hours, so we were ready to hit one of the great dog-friendly restaurants nearby for lunch!
