A few off leash trails, a few on. Lots of dog walkers, lots of dogs with their humans. This is a more social dog hike, so if your dog doesn’t get along with dogs that well you might try somewhere like Leona Canyon where there aren’t so many dogs. It was perfect for my older dog who still liked to socialize, but was bored with just playing in a park. Watch out for the occasional bikes on the smaller trails. Has more challenging and more flat trail. Water, bathrooms, and parking lot. Not many trash cans for poop though.

We had a great time here! I believe this is one of, if not the only park with redwoods where you can bring dogs, and it’s great being able to hike through such magnificent forest. There’s plenty of parking which is great. Lots of trails of varying difficulties. It’s gorgeous and doesn’t feel overly crowded once you’re on the trails. Watch out for ticks.

Very active spot for pups who like to explore and hike. Kept our dogs on leashes but 90% of other dogs were unleashed. Bring water and baggies; only extra placed at entrances. Parking is plentiful.

I love love love bringing all my dogs hiking here. I've got 5 dogs and all of them are friendly and well behaved off and on leash. His has been the best place so far in the East Bay that I have found to be safe and fun for my dogs and for me. During the blistering hot summer months we drive down to this place to get away from the heat and walk on the shaded trails. Oh his much my dogs love it!!! Only set back is that I wish it were closer to me. But I really don't mind the drive as long as he weather is cooler.

This is the only place in Oakland where I can feel good about letting my hyperactive heeler/lab run free to his heart's content. Miles and miles of fire roads with relatively few people on 'em, and a lake, to boot. Occasional bikers and horses, especially on weekends. Steer clear of the park's NW end (where the stables are) to avoid any unwanted equine encounters.
