- JrinvegasMay. 30, 2020Lovely Park, Lovely Views, Lovely people
This gem of a park lies nestled at the base of scenic mountains in NE Las Vegas.
The park is separated into three separate pens, but only two are open at the same time while the third park is fertilized and manicured. There is also a lovely children's playground if you continue on Los Feliz to the end of the road with a lot of walking paths, barbecue facilities, and picnic benches.
The dog park people are usually very kind, friendly and intelligent from diverse walks of life.
The LVMPD gun range is up the street a piece so if the sound of gunshots scares/annoys you, this may not be your first choice.

Been an area resident for 13 years and have utilized the Shadow Rock Dog Park for years. It is fairly safe and clean, but there are some people who come that don't attend to their pet, don't monitor/supervise properly, nor clean up after their pet ever though the park has bags and waste cans for that purpose. You might need to be extra careful if you bring a ball or toy for your dog to play with as the other dogs want in on the action too! I tend to go in the evenings when it is cooler and has less people and dogs. It is not lighted well enough to enjoy on a dark night.

It's tucked way out at the base of the mountains. Looks like no one cleans up after their dogs there. The water faucet didn't work. It's confusing what hate to go into. Sounded like a gun range was close by in the mountains. First and last time I'll ever go there.

I've been taking dogs to this park for 5+ years and we still haven't grown tired of it. Most dogs and owners are very pleasant and congenial. We go on the small dog side and although some dog waste may be found, know that several dedicated walkers walk around and around and around that park with extra bags and pick up waste that did not result from their pet.
The larger park (over 35 lbs) is in need of attention from the lackluster ppl who go there and sit in their lawn chairs and talk-talk-talk while their dogs fuss and fight and leave biohazardous piles behind as a souvenir of their visit.
People, do you have no upbringing at all?
Yes, the outhouse is the only bathroom but it is surprisingly clean and well kept. Two parks: "under 35 lbs" and "over 35 lbs". Of course occasionally you have an errant moron who thinks it's a great idea to bring a pitbull into the small dog park but the park regulars self-police very well and scofflaws are asked to leave. The park has extremely close proximity to million dollar mountain views and during good weather, you can walk outside the park, off-leash with poochie.
The water spigots work during the summer months; they are turned off during the winter, presumably to prevent the pipes from freezing.
The negatives? Not everyone is polite, sometimes you get someone out of "Weirdo-land", and definitely avoid going to the park after 9pm. Substantial rumors say "dog fighting" takes place in this park late Friday and Saturday nights.
Other than that, if you live in the area, your doggy will love you for going here.
