    Aggressive dogs/Owners 50/50

I have been to this park since 2001. For the past 2 years with my newest dog, it seems that while most people are cordial and their dogs are properly trained, there are too many aggressive dogs and owners who have no clue! These problem owners/dogs have caused vulgar displays of aggression the last 6 times Ive been & their owners are apathetic. (For reference - I have trained many dogs and can identify aggressive behavior vs play fighting).
Too bad that a few bad apples make for a awful experience.

Large park with agility equipment, needs more shade

A nice big park, and my dog loves the agility obstacles provided (there's a jumping obstacle, a ramp and a large rock). Downsides are most of the park grounds are gravel and there is a lack of shade, but a small area of trees do provide both natural dirt and shade.

    Just okay

I use this park frequently because it is minutes from home. But if I had literally any other close options, this one would be forgotten instantly. The park is large, which ordinarily would be a good thing. But because of the terrain it can be a bit of a nightmare when it is crowded. There is some shade, which is good. There is no running water, so bring in your own. They do provide water bowls and cheap plastic bags for cleanup, though many, many owners are not using them. What little grass there is has not been mowed, so when your pup does do his business, be fast because it can be hard to find in the tall grass. The park is located under high voltage power lines, which may be of concern to some. The ground is very rocky and eroded, and after rains just turns into a giant mud pit. It stinks from people not cleaning up after their dogs. We only go there on bath or grooming day because it can get so gross. Also, people will bring in clearly unsocialized dogs and then not watch them. I have seen quite a few families in there with infants and small children, despite clearly posted rules stating that no one under the age of 9 is permitted. This dog park is a liability lawsuit just waiting to happen, so if more than a few dogs show up or things start getting nasty, we leave immediately. Use at your own risk.

Please Watch Your Dogs, and Other Dogs

On a good day, this dog park can be a great park. Plenty of room to run, which my dog loves. However, some of the dog owners here are lacking in their parenting skills. An owner allowed his aggressive dog to attack two other dogs today, mine included. The first dog he attacked had a bad ear wound and was bleeding badly. My dog was bit on the leg. Please do not let your guard down when you go to this park, as some owners clearly do not care.

    Caution!!

We brought our very large, 5 month old Great Pyrenees to SouthRun recently and it truly was a HORRIBLE and appalling experience. (I might add that we had successfully used this nearby park in the past with our previous dogs.).... Beau was literally getting mauled by a couple of Dobermans wearing large spiked collars while their owners stood by unconcerned and uninvolved. My husband had to save Beau from the attack. It was frightening for all of us.

What on earth are attack collars doing in a dog park, and how about the humans taking responsibility for their dog's training and activities? I must say we have seen some badly socialized dogs here in the past, --the humans seem more concerned with their lattes than their dogs' safe interactions.

I caution everyone that this is a VERY uncontrolled environment and many owners take no responsibility for bringing socialized or appropriate dogs.

    nice park

It's best in the mornings when there aren't many people. But the owners here don't seem to pay attention or respond to their dogs.
If you go here be careful, there are lots of rocks that you could twist an ankle on.

    Uptight

I used to go to this dog park all the time until the people there became so uptight! People freak out if your dog tries to wrestle or playfully nip and bite at other dogs. The park itself is okay although it needs more grass. But I'd rather drive another 20 miles than be around the people that go there!!!!!!

    Mrs

I’ve met nice people and Jaeger has had made a lot of playmates. My biggest problem is that it is hard for me to run with her because of all the rocks (to twist your ankle on). Other than that it could use more grass.
