So Happy To Have This Close By

I’ve been going here for about a month, probably 5 times a week. It has been great for my puppy for socializing and exercise. The people are friendly and 99% of the dogs are too. I’ve only see one aggressive dog there that I would try to avoid. (Pit Bull that must have had a button pushed while playing) My puppy loves going here and so do I. I recommend this place to all dog owners where ever I go.

    Great Time

I have been taking my dog there for 9 months now. Obviously since it is an old ball field you need to be prepared and understand that your dog may run and get dirty. Great park and I have not met one mean person or dog. I have to say I think the main problem is that some people do not supervise their dog and they do use the park for bathroom time. Also the holes that someone was talking about have since been filled in by the town. I and my dog enjoy this park all times of the day!! Also there is a huge tree that spreads plenty of shade for the dogs to rest.

    Very muddy ball park

This is an old ball field that can get very muddy. There is almost no shade. Most of the dogs are amazing but some are or can get aggressive. Small fenced in area for smaller dogs but it is mostly for the dog to use the bathroom. On the plus side, it is a good place for disabled people to take the dogs. There is a bench right inside the gate and it is a clear line of sight so you can always see your dogs

    NO TREATS, PLEASE!

My dog and I have enjoyed coming to the park almost daily. Most everyone we have met are nice and their dogs are good and play well. There are always exceptions, but I have not seen many. Today a man came in with his two pointers and started waving a bag of dog treats around. He then got upset because my puppy tried to get them. I told him they were not allowed in the park. He seemed to think he could do whatever he wanted, but I was supposed to keep my dog from jumping for them. He refused to put the large bag of treats in his car. In his head, my dog was to blame. It really galls me to see people ignoring the rules they don't want to follow while telling you to control your dog better....especially when they are the cause of him jumping. He has been getting much better at listening, and as most people know, when you inject food into a situation, puppies are going to want food that is being waved around, and not just puppies. He should be glad there wasn't a more assertive dog that really was determined to have them. Otherwise, this is a good park and they keep it tidy overall. And like I said, most of the people are very good and so are their dogs.

    New to dog park

Only have been here three times. Have heard mixed things about it. At the times I have come, the people are nice and respective of each other and take care not to let their dogs get in the transition area with yours. Not everyone follows all the rules, but I see this everywhere. I won't go when it is super busy as it is a large space and it would be hard to keep track of my dog with the others. He is submissive and just wants to play, so I do not want to take the chance a more aggressive dog will attack him. I will stay away during peak times just to be safe.

    a place to run

We have been taking our Shihpoo to this park for over 3 years. He hasn't had any trouble with any of the other dogs. He is little and there are times when the little dogs are too active we prefer adding our guy to the large dog side. I find most of the owners are friendly and responsible. We are thankful to have a community park to go to.

    Don't go there!

Worst place to bring your dog. Unregistered, non vaccinated and poorly trained dogs are the majority. Aggressive dogs, irresponsible owners and no supervision. Dog warden was called for an incident and said if your that concerned about your dogs safety don't bring them here. Okay.

    Senior

There are deep holes that need to be filled in. A woman fell the other day. Dogs run and stumble. Potentially a big problem. Need to address immediately.

    Dog Attack

I came here for almost 3 years with my basenji. Lots of dogs are aggressive, but I thought nothing of it until my dog got attacked and the owner was a jerk about it. I am not a Southington resident, but they all seem to have their own cliques. They even talk crap about non-Southington residents on their FB page and believe that the non-Southington residents are the problem. No thanks.

nice park but the locals kind of suck

a 100+ lb doberman peed all over my dogs twice and then grabbed them by the neck and shook them aggressively. this is not play, this is dominance. owner sat there and giggled and said "bobo no hurt"

    call Dr. Phil !!

They do not tell you that this is for SOUTHINGTON RESIDENTS ONLY!!! If there is a problem with a disturbed female, that "says your dog injured her dog, 3-4 weeks after it supposedly happened. NO-ONE saw the 2 dogs squabbling, NOT EVEN THE PERSON MAKING THE COMPLAINT. She can get you barred from the park, after a YEAR, when she complained "your dog "Snarled at her!"! BELIEVE OR NOT!! IT HAPPENED TO ME- Check w/the dog warden yourself!!! Your only problem is, your not a resident, even though she is trying to extort money from you!! I was one of the original members of the park, before they had a sign up. I even made a contribution towards the building the park. You didn't have to be from Southington then! I's ironic the only one causing a problem is ELLEN RIBALLE from Southington!! She said she didn't have a job & she wanted me to pay for the entire cost of the vet bill not even knowing if my dog injured her dog!! My dog used to love the park, however, that women ruined it, & the park associations should take another look at their rules.

    Terrible

I brought my husky here so that she could run - and it was great for that. Until she was attacked. The dogs that come here are incredibly aggressive. If you complain the owners try to pull seniority on you. I spoke to some of my coworkers about his place and one of them said their dog had its ear ripped off here. SERIOUSLY. We will never go back to this park.

Very nice park with a smaller area for small dogs. Large fenced in area (former ball field. Can be muddy.
Water available. Not friendly to non Southington residents. You may be asked to leave.
