    Great for large dogs

This park is large, and is great for larger high energy dogs. There is a small fenced in are for smaller dogs as well. There is a cement walking path to walk on, along with a covered area, picnic benches and the locals bring their grocery bags for use as poop bags. The park is clean, with a water spigot, bowls and even a kiddie pool for the pups. The locals are friendly and accepting of new people and pups. We were from out of town and were accepted with our two GSP's with open arms.

When you hear “Lake” you would think someplace quiet and nice 🤷🏽‍♂️
This is park is neither. Dogs were running around like they live and sleep there. And I’m sorry to say that the people I saw hanging out there probably do too 😢.

    Directions

I really like this dog park. It's a safe place where there's no holes in the fence. The fencing is good And the location is good. The map on bringFido is wrong, however, it's on the south end of the lake across the kiddie park on Mountain View Dr.

    Biggest Little Park in Reno

The park was re-vitalized a couple years ago with more sidewalk, benches, and a new shade structure. Plenty of watering stations in the summer (the city shuts off the water from late-fall to mid-spring so the pipes don't freeze). Soft mulch along the sides and decomposed granite in the center. No grass as the city won't pay for maintenance on grass for this park.

The small dog area was expanded and had a shade structure and bench installed so there is sitting and shade there now.

Someone complained in a review that it wasn't for high energy dogs but I took my high energy dog there every day for three years and he never had foot problems.

There are locals who go to this park religiously every day and clean, weed, and sweep (I think they even have a leaf blower now to clean off the sidewalks in the morning).

Great park when it isn't too busy, it can get a little chaotic and hectic during peak hours (7-8 am and 5-7 pm) so plan accordingly if you are visiting.

    Good potential, poor execution

My yellow lab had been in the car for several hours we ran errands. He was thrilled to be able to chase a ball! Later we noticed he had chunks of the pads on all four feet missing. The first vet bill was over $170.
The surface of the park is a very sharp gravel. Not suitable for a high energy dog. This is a dog that just spent 5 months chasing around the desert by Desert Hot Springs .
This park was designed for walk and poop dogs only.

    Adequate

Large area for big dogs. There is NO grass ground cover as the entire area is dirt. The agility equipment consists of 3 six foot concrete culverts is all. Dog poop bags consisted of plastic grocery bags tied to the chain-link fence. There was water available.

Big Dog vs Small Dog runs

The big dog area has shade and tables. The small dog run has no shade and 2 chairs. What's up with that?

Virginia Lake Dog Park, Reno, NV

A good size area. Gravel surface with plenty of shade, benches and water. a few structures to play on and plenty of room to run, One area for big dogs like me, and an area for small dogs. This dog park is adjacent to a large human park and lake where I can go on a leash.
